Racing Seatbelts

I just want to know if racing seatbelts (4 point) are legal to use without the factory seatbelts. Just want to make sure before I remove my stock belts.

I believe it is different from state to state and belt to belt.

It's a ridiculously bad idea, but it might be legal.
