how much is too much power in a street integra?
ok i searched and tried to find it out, but i am going to finally have my turbo set up done around june. but i cannot decide whether to sleeve it or not. it is a 94' ls. so i am just trying to find out how much power it actually takes to make a integra a pain in the *** to drive as a daily driver. if 12 psi on stock sleeves will be more than enough for the street, then i don't wanna waste all of my money on sleeves. but if i'm gonna be begging for more if it's still easy to drive on the street i might as well go ahead and get sleeves. thanks for the input.
Stock sleeves are good for anything less than 400HP. Obvioulsy depending on the tune. 400 hp is more than you would need on the street. I've seen a lot of peoples opinions that when you start getting around 300HP that its a lot for daily driving.

it depends what you wanna do. i drive on 225/50/15 drag radials but on the street 1st and 2nd is still useless. but as far as traffic, driveability, etc. the car is fine. i think on reguler street tires 250-300 is plenty becuase fwd works against itself in the traction department.
you mean you daily drive on slicks?....how does those hold up when it rains...dont know too much about them

250 @ the wheels is a lot for integras because they are so light! my 300zx was streetable with 380rwhp but a hell of a lot heavier than any honda!
I think he means the drag radials by nitto, not full slicks. http://www.nittotire.com/tires_555r.asp

you really dont need anything more than 250 whp for a honda, anything else is just to make the dyno charts look pretty.....around 250 whp is when you start having traction issues with even the best tires......consider this; my teg weighs about 2450 lbs right now; and and I have traction problems with only 155 whp ! And that is with Falken ze512 !

really? My car weighed in at 2435 with a quarter tank, I have roughly 155-160 whp and have Falken Ziex 512's but I have no traction problems whatsoever.
:edit: I have a Kaaz LSD, but I think its shot. Came w/ the motor swap so I have no idea how old it is.

250-300whp is plenty for the street, especially in a 2400 lb car. If the car is stictly street id say f*** the sleeves, but if u wanna do a drag car do def do it and turn the boost down for daily driving. I had a stealth wtih a 370whp or so, and it was fine, but it was AWD and heavy as a ****.
people who say 300whp+ isn't streetable probably don't even have a 300whp teg. i'm pushing around 380whp right now on pump and it drives fine. i'm rolling on some cheap 215/40/17's right now and i've got grip all day long(Kazz LSD also helps
). the only time i have problems gripping is when i floor the ****. but then it all comes down to your driving style when you're ACTUALLY pushing that much power. for me...i'm shooting for 425whp on the streets, which should suit my needs.
oh...also 300whp in a civic chassis is also a different story. i had around 340 or so whp in my old EG hatch and that was way too much power for that little car. it was probably because my suspension sucked ***** too.

As mentioned before, you don't have to floor it all the time. I hardly ever go full thorttle in 1st and 2nd. With my peak torque at 4k rpm, I can just go half throttle and shift at 6000rpm and still accelerate pretty quick. The gears that you do get traction with, there is never too much power, you always want more. I went from 270whp to 320whp and its a good difference.. now I'm starting to get used to it and want even more.
how are you guys with like 15psi running pump fuel on gsr engines and stuff? im pretty sure thats grounds for detonation if you didnt work the block to lower the compression and reinforce it

however much psi you can run on pump will be determined by quality of gas, compression, turbo size, and timing. i can run 20psi on my setup and turn my timing way back and still be okay. but it's just not practical to do so. also you don't really have to run lower compression pistons to run 15+psi. it's all in the tunning. one of my old LS-T setups ran 18psi stock motor for about 5 months till it went. the motor had about 130k miles on it and ran strong till the rings finally decided to give.
sorry if i didn't make any sense...it's 2am right now and i my daugther is sick with the Flu and keeping me up.

memphis: silence is golden, and this car is fwd, open diff, and weighs a several hundred pounds less than most cars
300whp is alot in a fwd street car, but still fun
350 is really fun, but getting out of control. alot harder to control
i used to drive mine on the street at close to 450whp before i sold it and it is absolutely retarded. Traction is non existant in any gear. No fun.. . . . Well kinda fun to see peoples faces when you are just crusing in 5th n the highway and then dump on it and the tires go up in smoke right away. ahhhhh the joys of turbo
BTW the kid who bought my car drives the car as a DD and drives on 450whp everyday
