Default Good deal on a '90 Hatch?

Howdy.

Been looking for a daily driver for a while now, so I'm finally getting a '90 hatch from a guy I work with. He's 60+ years old, original owner. It's bone stock white with fresh-*** blue interior, very clean and shiny paint. No sunroof. 190k miles, but very well maintained. No problems at all. I'm getting it for $1200.

I just want to know if this is really a decent price. I've looked at autotrader, etc, and all the ones I've seen have been either driven into the ground, modified by ricers (clipped springs, ugly kits, 17s)... usually both. I'm just looking for a clean daily driver (my Datsun 510 is killing me) that's also a good starting point for a project car.

$1200 for a clean 4th gen hatch is a steal. Have any pictures of it?

steal. I got my 91 SI hatch for $1200 also, primered, minor body damage, and a freaking CX engine. You got the good end of the deal.

Rad. About time my good car karma caught up with me.

No pics yet.. just imagine a white '90 DX hatch with no scratches, dents, or rust. And still shiny factory paint.
I'm imagining the same, but dropped on a decent suspension and riding on bronze 15" Rota GT3s. ha. Wonder how long I can keep it stock..

Thanks guys.

dude getting it from the original owner is awesome as long as he took care of it. i'd have to say that price is a little better than average but i would hate blue or brown interior, thats just me.

I bought a mint 91 red Si hatch for $1300 and a almost flawless 90 black si for $800.
Yours sounds like it might be a good deal if its as clean as you say.

Sweet, treat her well though, see now the problem is you're gonna want another daily driver because that one is mint. Maybe buy it and sell it to someone who can care for it a lot and not daily drive it. Well ****** it first then figure out your wants.
<jealous.

Picked it up on saturday. I love this car.
Big difference going from a highly modified RWD car with lots of torque (comparitively) to a bone stock FWD car. Leaving stoplights is a little weird.. strange being "pulled" by the car instead of pushed. I can feel the motor flex against the mounts before the car goes anywhere.. mounts are all good, but it's just different.
RWD, FWD, whatever.. this thing has handles! Can't wait to modify.
Compared to the 510, this thing is a luxury car. Hardly any squeaks or rattles, little wind noise even at speed on the freeway, soft suspension. Interior seems huge.

It's mint, but not too mint.
It's got a few door dings, a cracked/pitted windshield, 190k miles (and rapidly increasing due to my 60 mile round trip daily commute. Not pristine enough not to drive. Just lived-in enough. Great base fora long-term DD project.

The plan is to keep it stock until stuff breaks. When anything breaks, I'll replace it with upgraded aftermarket stuff. Suspension, wheels, and tires will probably be done this summer (Omnipower, GT3s or C10s and Ziex..). MPFI will be installed as soon as I find a complete set-up in the yards. Same with Si cluster.
I <3 Honda sticker would have been purchased today, but fanboys have the price up to $20.. so I guess I'll just say it here (and stop my rambling). I (heart) my Honda.

hey, that seems like a good deal to me. I paid about $2000 for my 88, back in 98. It was a stock DX, back then. Mine is white, with the blue interior. So if you do not buy it, pass on that number and I will have to jump on it. Good luck with the EF
