car idling horribly and dying out.
i just got done rebuilding my motor w/ some JE 9:1s after two of my stock ones gave way due to boost spikes. i started the car up, now it idles at like 1k or less, sounds like a diesel and whenever i give it gas the car dies out. im not throwing any CEL, so we tried messing w/ the timing to no avail. I think it might be the knock sensor? i heard that the knock sensor hears rattling from forged pistons and retards the timing significantly, also ive heard that JEs at that low compression idle pretty bad, but I dont kno why my car is dying out. (undriveable even two feet). Im gettin hondata 2b tuned and installed tomorrow, just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas why my car is doing this. thanks!
LOL nice quote arturbo. yea, well the guy who was helping me(this was my first time tearing apart a motor and all) was adjusting the cam gears and he was having me crank the motor for a while..so I dont kno if he did that?
Check your spark PLUGS and WIRES first... to check wires, just borrow a friends and toss em on... problem goes away, then get new wires and problem solved. I'm pretty sure your plugs will be fried also, if this was the problem, so change those out too.
If this isnt the case, check the DISTRIBUTOR, more specifically the DISTRIBUTOR ROTOR! Replace that if its bad and your problem is solved.
All these repairs are fairly cheap. Plug wires may be the most expensive of all them.
Good luck, let me know if it works!
