POS 91 CRX throws CEL 6 (coolant temp sensor) Wont start now...
i bought this POS 91 CRX Si with DOHC ZC in it. It had a bad TPS when i bought it, but it ran fine on the way home. NOW after i replaced the TPS, i get a queer *** code 6 which is the coolant temp sensor. Crappy *** haynes manual says take it to the dealership. I checked all my connections, everything is fine. When i turn the key it sputters for a quick second and thats all the action the thing gets...
Would this code even prevent the car from starting? Anyone think its a fuel related issue? oR spark? this sucks, i just got in from having to push the POS..

hmm... might want to post in the crx area, try resetting the ecu, maybe the ecu still thinks the tps is bad, i don't know...
Dax moved the thread..
I pulled the positive terminal for over 30 seconds and then reconnected it. Still same problem. I wonder if the ECU is FUBAR. Il try the one off my sisters hatch Si, see what happens. Untill then, anyone else have any ideas?

ECU might not reset in 30 seconds. I always turn the key on, then pull off the negative battery cable to be sure that the ECU won't pull any extra 'juice'.
I had the same problem with a ZC in a MPFI'd hb, but every time I reset the computer, it would throw a different code as well as the coolant temp code. Has the motor ran well in the car since you've owned it? My coolant temp sensor connecter was actually bad, and I replaced it but it kept popping up. I think I had a wiring problem somewhere because I always had weird problems with the motor. I would suggest trying a different computer, either a PM6 or another PM7 if you can find one.

That code won't prevent the car from starting. It'll just run in "safe" mode.. but not limp mode. i.e. vtec won't engage (if its a vtec motor, i saw you have a ZC), and it'll have richer maps to be safe, but you can rev past the 3500rpm "limp" rev limit.
I drove for probably a week or two throwing that code with no problems when I first got my GSR up and running.

yah i have been getting MISC wierd codes too. Car is a 91 CRX Si, so it has always been MPFI, using stock harness, just modified for DOHC ZC distributor. Ecu was some wierd ****, LG6 or some crap. Might be a 92 LS. Definatly wasnt a pm6/7 like normal. Il try the battery routine and check my coolant temp sensor plug, it is kinda dirty down there. Then il swap ECU's and see what happens.
P.S. i drove the car home with zero problems, other than the bad engine mount. In fact, after i fixed the engine mount, i got the car running and driving properly, but it was throwing 3 different wierd *** codes all at once. Car sat for 2 days, now its simply the coolant temp Code 6 and not starting...haha. could be low/out of gas, maybe the gauge is inaccurate. iknow its on the low side, haha.

yeah, if you get too frustrated with it, go to the basics - fuel/air, spark, compression, and in a lot of cases, timing is an issue, but not if you haven't messed with it since it was running good last.
I've never even heard of an LG6... Try to borrow that PM6
