Itll start up and run for about 3 seconds and then it sputters and dies.
If I hit the throttle at all during that time it just bogs down and dies.
Oh and it wont start at all with my foot on the gas.
Any ideas of what it could be?

 

check for spark. could be old spark plugs. rotor. crack on the distributor. anything to do with sparking.

 

Im bout to go change the spark plugs.
I guess ill change the cap and rotor too.

Oh and do you know anything about the distrubutor recall and if that covers 91's made in canada?

there was an ignitor recall, not sure about dist... either way if you call up your dealership they can run your VIN and let you know if yours was in the recall. They probably wont give you a free one though as honda "recalled the recall" if that makes sense...

 

in other words a warranty??

 

not a warranty (think like when ford recalled everything because of ignition fires)... theres not an ef on the road under factory warranty anymore.... it was a recall by the factory on the ignitors on i believe 90-91 civics because they went bad so often... either way check it out as it has been known to commonly fail... mine gave similar symptoms for a day or two before it completely failed (and just cranked)...

 

hmm I cant even get it to start now..
I thought that your car is covered for recalls untill 100,000 miles which im still under..

ok does it turn over at all now if so are u getting spark now. could be ur fuel pump or regulator could be alot of things give me some info wut it did if anything before it died

 

now its just cranking and cranking.
it did catch once earlier and ran for a few seconds[at 1000 rpm] but i touched the throttle then it bogged down and died.
even if i dont touch the throttle it dies after a few seconds.
when it starts to die i can hear the intake make a pop/sucking sounds if im on the throttle and it bogs down and dies.
with out the throttle it starts and idles good for a few seconds then sputters and jerks and then dies.
last night it did run for about 10 second and i stabbed the gas and it reved to 4K and then it died.
i also started it once while in gear and then let the clutch out and it moved forward then died.
basically i can get it started it just wont stay started for longer than a few moments.
i supose it is getting spark if the engine will run even if for a few seconds.

btw i dont think it could be the fuel pump since i hear it click when i turn the key to 2

Check the fuel filter yet??

 

Its running now.
I think there was water in the fuel that was frozen.
