Anyone else notice the old school finned Mugen wheels on the trailer? Maybe they are common as dirt in the Philippines to simply put them on old trailers but I have only seen a small number of those wheels since they came out new. I liked them then too, especially with the covers for function over fashion.
Nice effort on the car, especially with not quite ideal facilities for racecar building.

Came out pretty well. Turned a bad situation around nicely.
Just out of curiosity how come you didn't remove the rear suspension/brakes, steering rack, rear engine mount etc.... When you were painting the interior, engine bay etc...?

Good story. What's the racing scene like in the Philippines? I assume that the race in the photos is a sort of catch-all class where any safe closed-wheel car can compete?

Yeah, I saw that too....made me laugh, as I have a set of those in the garage that I'm restoring now. Maybe I should just put them on a trailer instead, using old 1G CRX axles.

Great Job! I went to Subic for the F3 race in June and it was a beautiful track. Blue ocean surrounding the track, Beautiful palm trees and mountains at every corner...Something you would see in a video game or something.
I miss Philippines already.

just wondering, the JDM shell is RHD and your finished car is LHD? did you save your old firewall and transfer it over?

LHD, yup, saved my old firewall and transfered it over
next step, mount it on a chassis liner, i dont really know if the shell is aligned to spec
saving up on my next engine management
LSD
lots of tuning (current power: 154.9 whp)
and hopefully lots of track by februaru next year

Cool... That's very rare and nice, to see some action on the other side of the pacific.
They do lappping events at that track too. Or others?
Next time i'm visiting PH (my wife is from there, Batangas) i'm gonna try to get some seat time. Race-track, Gymkhana, anything will do... And of course a "few" San Miguels and some polutan at the end of the day is allways awesome...

hey that's nice, just send me a message if you're heading over.
i can hook you up, with guys who do ralllycross and autocross, we run around quite a short track 3.2km (SIR) at least with times ranging from 1:26 - 1:40 and a shorter layout on the same track 0:56 - 1:09
if you ever visit the San Miuel is on me
there is also racetrack in Batangas (Batangas Racing Circuit) just a couple of hundred meters longer than Subic, for next year's season both tracks will be used for the series, not like the past years, they had separate ways

Cool, we'll try to hookup for sure. We may go in 2005 around X-mas time or a little later.
Our usual local track is only 1.6km, lap times around 1:00-1:05... There are other much bigger tracks of course (Tremblant, Mosport, Shannonville) but this one is easily accessible.
