Default b16 engine wiring harness woes....

Ok been workin on my b16 swap all weekend and I finally am to the wiring. I have an 88 crx with DPFI....the b16 I acquired came from another 88 crx dx with DPFI that had been converted to MPFI. I left this wiring harness on (it has the resistor box and all the fuel injector wires) and it also has 1 extra plug next to the underhood fuse box where the other 2 plugs are. It also has the vtec solenoid wires and 2 wires for 2 o2 sensors. So im GUESSING that its the SI harness?? Maybe Sir harness? My question is Do i still have to repin b10,b12 and c1 c2 to run into the engine bay to the correct locations? Or can i just plug in my pr3 and go??

If youre positive you have identified the vtec solenoid wire, 2 o2 wires, and the rest of the plug are plugged in, that extra plug is most likely the VTEC Oil Pressure plug. There is one plug that goes unused after the DX to SiR conversion, but its closer to the fuel rail/IM.

As for re-pinning, unless you managed to run a Si/r harness from the ecu through the firewall to the engine harness..you will have to switch those around.

everything is connected except for the 1 extra large plug next to the fuse box and all grounds are good. So if I didnt repind those 4 wires at the ecu to the engine bay would this motor still turn over or fire?

your not giving enough information. your asking us if this kids wiring job was good, and if you can just plug it in and go, but without seeing the car its impossible to tell.

if this engine came out of another 88 dx then it should be plug and play, but it all depends on how the harness was removed from the old car, bc the extra wires for the b16 were probably just cut, since they dont have a harness for that on usdm cars.

but even so....if it were me? i would have said the hell with that mess, and used my own engine harness (sinc you know its good), and taken the resistor box and the injector plugs off of that, done a really clean MPFI swap, then added the 4 extra wires for the b16.

the reason for doing it this way is 2 fold:

one: all connections are made by you.

two: no mystery plugs.

three: troubleshooting is then a breeze.

i did the something similar when i got my b16, i had a 90 dx. i thought i was so smart, and i used the SiR harness. it took me 2 weeks to finally get the car running, and then 2 weeks after that, i was out my first ecu.

pr3s arent cheap and they dont like crossed connections.

just my 2 cents. good luck

I was not asking if the "kids" wiring was good or not, I was simply asking if I must run the 4 wires from inside the cabin. Either way its the stock dx ecu plugs so with the engine harness swapped into another car it has to be done right (the repinning of the 4 plugs? Where is cylinder postion sensor?
