Default what BANDSAW do you guys perfer for fabrication???

im in the market for a new bandsaw and was wondering what different kinds you guys perfer and use on a everyday basis
this bandsaw will be used very frequently so i need something that will last and am not really looking for something just to get by
i saw alot of people using jet bandsaws which i heard are pretty good but also they are a china made product and do offer alot of cheaper products as well as good quality products
all your input would help as far as part nums go and pics if they are available
thanks

Anything from Delta is great. I haven't looked into their bandsaws...I use a chopsaw.

FYI Lowes has 20% off power tools thru the end of the year.

Amada makes some great products. Sometimes they are a bit pricey but well worth it in my opinion.

For an affordable Vertical bandsaw, go with the Wilton, for a H/V bandsaw, go with the JET

we have a horizontal jet bandsaw... it works, but it just feels cheap. i doubt it would hold up to some serious use.. we just use it to cut pipe for exhausts

have you looked into a grizzly saw. I have a jet 5x6 but the grizzly 7x12 is very nice.

To be honest, i think all the 4x6 and 5x6 H/V bandsaws are gonna feel/look cheap, you get what you pay for, its when you step it up to a 7x12 or larger with a water system, is when they really start to look nice.

i know someone with a jet bandsaw with the water cooling system and it's been a work horse, it held up for years of constant uses.

any of ou used this saw: http://www.northerntool.com/we...14573?

It looks like a pretty good deal, on sale now for $689. If you are approved for the Northern Tool credit card, and use it, you get 10% off of that. I may put it on the card for the discount, making it about $610+tax, pay off the card immeditely and throw it away.

The guy at the store said he'd been there for 9 years. He'd seen a few of the cheap ones come back, but never one of these.

Who is the manufacturer of that saw? I was considering that one, or this JET from amazon (free shipping right now). Wondering if the extra $ for the jet is worth it or not...

I went and looked at it at Northern. It is tagged as Northern Equipment brand, but likely somebody else made it and they tagged it. It looks to be of decent quality. I think it is probably very comparable in quality with the Jet that costs a lot more.

If you decide on the Jet, you can find it cheaper other places than Amazon.com.

I just talked to a former employer that said he has a saw that they're not using and he'll sell if for about $300. It's got a 3/4" blade, as does the one above at Northern...but it is probably more of an industrial grade. I'm gonna go check it out and see what it's like.

i love the dake saws, those things are rugged and cut nice, there was a jet at my old work, it did the trick but nothing can compare to a dake.

Where can you find them cheaper? 899 was the cheapest I saw anywhere, and amazon gave free shipping.

I got this saw from Graingers its nice compared to one of those vertical/horizontal ones I had before,I always had a problem with the blade popping off.
