Default The Cone Legacy: Chapter 2 "damn cv boot" (56k, go make a sandwich)

This took place the past sunday night (took a while to get the pics uploaded I know). Alright so it's around 7:45 on Sunday night and a group of us including myself, my brother (stealth 95 gs-r), and friends lucas(onePOINTsix), chris(slyfoxitr), bill(nytemare), and rob (i dont know his user name on here) all decided to go take rob's rental car (he was using while his car was in the shop, and go just screw around with it in some dirt roads and parking lots. So we go out and do that for a while at this one muddy gravely road that nobody ever uses but then decide it might be a good idea to change locations so we go to this rainy parking lot and slide around blah blah blah, and then my brother, with bill riding shotgun, go and do 1 slide and then stop. I think nothing of it and keep filming/dodging rob while he's sliding around. So about 5 minutes goes by and we all decide to head back to my house. Bill and andrew were staring in the engine bay of the cone with a flashlight and i'm thinking "great, what the **** went wrong" so I go over to check it out. Andrew says that when he did the slide he thought he heard a pinging noise of something metal hitting the ground and bill claims to have heard it too. So I start scoping out the ground for anything that could've fallen off, then right next to my foot I notice a ball bearing about the size of a quarter (if quarters were 3-dimensional shapes of course). I picked it up and it nearly slipped right out of my hands it was so oily. I'm thinking to myself hmm, axel component? I showed to andrew and bill and asked if could be the thing they heard falling and then got laughed at by him, bill, and lucas for "being stupid". Oh well, so lucas and I head back to my house (about 2 blocks away) and waited for the cone to arrive. 10 minutes go by and we get a call from andrew saying "my cv boot broke off" lucas and I look at eachother both knowing that this is probubly not going to be an easy task to fix. So the cone arrives and we check the damage. It's pretty bad, and we needed a new front axel. By now it was around 9:00pm and andrew had to leave at 8:30pm to get back to chicago for class the next morning. On top of that a huge winter storm was coming and the temperature had already dropped about 10degrees and it was starting to snow. So we run around town picking up tools and parts from a not-so-local, local autozone. We get back and it was now snowing pretty heavily. I had school the next morning so I crashed around 11:30ish. But the cone didn't end up getting fixed until 2:30 in the morning. Andrew had to be back in chicago for his class that started at 6:00am, and on a good nice clear summer's day it takes around 3 hours to get back there from our house. It was pitch black outside with around 3 inches of snow and much more falling ontop of that. To finally make the story finished the cone got finished up around 3:00am, Andrew got to roughly around the Kalamazoo area and stayed the night due to weather. He didn't make it back in time for class but was able to take an afternoon class to keep perfect attendence. Moral of the story, well there is no moral actually. Here's the pics.

w00t for Tony getting his forehead cut off...Lucas, I LOVE the photo skillz0rz! Anyway, I think I may have to replace a lower ball joint during winter break, or at least the boot...more pics will come.

don't know, probably will never find out. I haven't been able to contact the orignal owner (long story), so...I don't know why its orange, why there is a JDM '98 Spec B18C in it, what alarm model #, why it has a JUN header but came with an Ebay CAI, and finally, why the hell it looks like someone bit the headliner at the top of the door jamb. <--I'll try to take pics of that when the cone goes under the knife again.

yeah, it was boosheet! I gave my GS-R so much more abuse...this looks like it may have been the second time it happened cuz when I bought the car I noticed a bunch of axle grease in the wheel and on the brake caliper/dust shield/etc.

now I noticed the LBJ boot is torn...arg...maybe thats what caused it? (not torn boot, but broken/bent LBJ)
