After market clutch cable???
i was just thinking the other day is there souch a thing as an After market clutch cable i didn't ever really think about it till the other day when i was messing with my tranny. it may be a stupid question but i thought i'd ask. Holla
Don't know if this qualifies as OEM replacement or aftermarket, but
I replaced my torn up stock one with one from Autozone. $26. Quite possibly the best $26 spent on my car to date. Instead of the plastic threads on the adjustment part and weird plastic type cable, their's was metal threads and metal cable. Well worth the peace of mind that my cable isn't going to snap now.
Very noticable difference in quailty, I give it

i figured there was an OEM replacement, there has to be. i'm planning to replace mine eventually because its "mushy" ... when you push the clutch in, it doesn't push back. i figured a new cable would help? we haven't quite made it to that part of my project yet though, so i haven't done it yet.

The cable can be adjusted. Trace it down to the clutch arm, and there's a nut that you twist to adjust the play on it. I had to adjust it all the way down to get good feel on the clutch. In my case the threads on the shaft where the nut resides were shattered in about 5 places and a good part of the plastic was missing, creating crunching sounds. Actual cable had a slice in it too, which could have meant dumping of the clutch at any given moment should it snap.
Autozone's cable was so much higher quality (see above). After you inspect your cable and if it needs to be replaced, check them out. Replacement is self-explanatory and can be done in 15 minutes. I have done it multiple times, and if you get good you can do it in 4~5 minutes.
