why is type-r more?
if anything it should be less because you dont even need a spring compressor.

80 is the going rate....its more work for springs. if it was just coilovers that you could drop in, thats easy stuff.

$80?!

The good price on installation here in NJ/NYC is around $100. Some shop charge $80 per spring! Buy a helms for $40 and learn to wrench your car. You'll be more happier with yourself.

80's cheap. Going rate here is 100 bucks. On average, it takes most people 1-2 hours, and you're using specialty shop rates, that's about right. Most shops that charge cheaper are doing so b/c they are desperate for work - for what reasons that is I wouldn't want to find out.

I agree, $80 is very cheap. Try the dealer, $400

Why do you think they are charging you more because it's a Type-R? Your friend with the LS put in coilovers which probably had the shocks and springs already assembled so it's just a swap. If you are changing springs on your factory shocks it's more work. $80 is a decent price.

I've seen local shops (Cars and Concepts) charge 350-400 for shock/spring installs, but average like Vaportrail said is 100 bucks or so. 80 isn't bad.

I agree with everyone else tho, do this job yourself, it's EASY.

how about we have the meet at your house? then four guys can work on each corner and get dat chit put in <30min. The only special tool we'll need is the spring compressor. Other than that, it's all basic hand tools.

yoshi - who used his new wrenches to install a JUN valve cover

$100+ is the going rate for install here as well. $80 isn't a bad deal.

Pay the $80 or take Yoshi's offer and buy him and whoever helps you lunch.

ditto... do it yourself. I did mine myself, but it took me 3 times longer than a good do-it-yourselfer. Just take your time and follow all the instructions in your Helms manual and everything should be turn out ok.
