Default 42 offset all round on an s2000? will it work?

Ive been offered some Ultralite griffins 786's for my honda s2000, however when i asked for the offsets he said 42 all round, is this acceptable?

Thanks in advance

your ideal offset is 60's in the rear.

i know many go under that and it still works.

the offsets needed will vary depending on the width of the wheel...

The wheels are 17 inch diameter, and 7.5 inch wide, the tyres I am being given are 205/40/R17 all round, the offset is 42, does anyone reckon I'll have a problem with these wheels/tyres?

Tyre brand is toyo T1-S and wheel brand is Ultralite

i just got some M7's for my S and the offset is +45 all around. Not what i really wanted as far as offset is concerned. Just have stiff *** suspension have a moderate drop and you should be ok.

it will work. if the wheel is between 7 to 8.5. i ran 18x7.5 +42 front and 18x8.5 +43 rear.

So are you basically telling us that they +45 offset rubs your fenders on hard cornering and bumps?

Nice looking wheels, any closer/better shots?

yep. You have to roll your fender and have stiff *** suspension. I will take better pics Sun. and make a thread, sorry for the minor hijack. The wheels are just for brownie points but i wouldnt track on anything less than 50+ unless you camber those badboys.

I have just fitted 205/40/R17's all round with +42 offset and the handling is definitely improved over the stock setup! The Tyres are Toyo Proxes if that makes any difference! Will I get uneven tyre wear with this setup?

also does anyone know the widest tyre that will fit on a 7.5inch wheel? 205 at present, however i'd like to beef the rear up with 225 if it will fit if not 215's. I can only get my aftermarket wheel in a 7.5width

Thanks for the replies

Toyo Proxes what...? Depending on the actual model it could be far worse than OEM S02's. Regardless, give it time, a thousand miles or so to get the feel for the tires once they have been scrubbed in. Otherwise, you are just judging from driving out on new tires compared to bald S02's or something of the like.

These are my shoes! http://www.toyo.co.uk/index.ph....t1-s

My last set of S-02's have good tread left but due to uneven wear on the inside of the tyre honda stated this was illegal, which I can accept, however why should I be getting uneven wear? is that hard cornering? or do I need my camber adjusting?

Thanks

The T1-S's are good in the wet, but ok in the dry. While the treadwear rating doesn't mean much, you can compare it to other Toyo tires. At 280, it is about twice as hard as the OEM S02's 160 treadwear markings. But those are only markings and seem to only translate to the particular model, and sometimes brand itself. You might find that the sidewalls will be lacking after a while. They will not be stiff and the rear end might tend to 'bobble' around. These tires will be good for daily driving and longevity.

As for the OEM S02's - not sure how legal/illegal gets over in the UK. In some state inspections, they merely pass or fail due to tread depth. But the uneven wear is 1) camber and 2) driver. The camber is set for a reason and that is to keep the car planted through the twisties. And in that respect, it is up to the driver (issue #2) to exercise those twisties and even out wear. If not, then daily driving on the freeways will lead to uneven wear. Hope this helps.
