aftermarket wheel width for s2000?
I was wanting to put on some aftermarket alloys on my s2000, what width do they need to be front and rear? I was thinking 8inch front and 9 rear? or will 8 front and 89 back be fine?
Also can anyone tell me the standard wheel "width" a yr2000 s2000 has?

I'll basically be running 7.5's all round with 205/40/R17 tyres, do you reckon i'll notice any differences? harder ride? back end giving way sooner? etc
Thanks for the reply
Thanks for the reply
im looking at the griffin ultralites http://www.ultralitewheels.com their marked as 786's
I did suspect this, i guess the most I can do is whack some thicker tyres on there? at the moment their 205's, you reckon 225's or possibly 235's will help?
thanks

the set up i went for was 17x8 225/45/17 front and 17x9 255/40/17 rear...make sure go staggered setup..don't be cheap and get all same around so u can rotate tires..u will lose a bit of handling if u do

you are right, it is not 16x8 in the rear, it's 16x7.5

you need to keep a similar stagger in tire width to retain similar handling characteristics of the car if you don't plan on changing anything on the suspension.

will changing the tyres out to a wider tyre help? i.e. 205 on a 7.5 wheel on the front and 225 on a 7.5 wheel on the rear? thanks
The standard 7.5" rear wheels on the '03 down model gets a 245/45/16 because the stock S02's are actually wider than a typical 225 tire. I think you are going a little small on your tire choices. The tires and wheels on this car are staggered from the factory for a reason!
Sounds like you are sold on this idea and lots have done it, but just be aware that you are running the risk of taking away the S2k's most endearing trait (amazing handling) just for "show".
I like the design of a couple of the wheels on that site but for touting how light they are I can't seem to find actual wheel weights, their offsets are a little shallow for our car as well

Thanks for the reply, i ended up going with this setup and ive gotta say the handling is better (or at least for now), this is prob down to the toyo tyres, The potenza's didnt help with the english weather where I am although they were good in the dry!
As im driving slow mostly (daily commute, the odd blast in a straight line prehaps) I shall stick with this setup unless I track the car in which case i'll slap some new rubber on the original wheels (which I have kept). When I get some pics i'll post them here for viewing.
