Default Considering welding career...

Ok i am having a hard time finding a career that interests me. I want a job i will enjoy, pays well, and isnt just boring day to day. I think welding might be good for me because i have always been good at finding multiple solutions to any given problem. Just actually workign with my hands, building stuff, actually seeing my work becoem something, i think would be great. If i had to work some where and not being able to build anythign i would so easily get bored and feel liek i havent done anything. I obviously want a well paying job, a challenge, a job that requires thinking and problem solving, aswell as somethign that is ever changing. I would idealistically like a job that was in the 9-5 range, overtime being expected, but nothing like 80 hours a week. I want to be able to have vacations and such to take my family on, as well as not be away form home/wife/kids.

Do you think that a career in welding would be a career worth going into? do u find it to be a challenge, fun, different, and doable for the next 40 years? i am 20 right now and looking at all options, but this seems like an ideal career. convince me

I hope you like an assembly type atmosphere, because that's what 90% of welding jobs are like

I used to do production welding here in phoenix at a company called Active manufacturing. From my experience welding is not a fun job unless you are making things that interest you. While I was at Active half of the stuff that I was welding I didnt even know what it was or for that matter what it was going to be when the thing was completed. Be prepaired to weld the same things over and over and over and over and over, if you catch my drift. I still love to weld but now I just do it as a hobby.
