if i were you.i would use the h22 tranny if your not going turbo for a while.then when you get ready to go turbo,i would use the h23 tranny or the f23a1 tranny.but if you want to kill 2 birds w/one stone just do the h23/f23.then all you will have to do is just put the turbo on...

h22 shorter gear ratio and will let you build speed faster.

h23 has a longer gear ratio, letting you put that turbo power to good use.

f23 ditto as h23

i have had a f23a1 tranny on a h22 turbo'd car,and i will say 4th and 5th are very very nice w.turbo.but if this is only a tract car...i would do h22.because you are only going a 1/4 mile each pass.for the street i would definitely use the h23 or f23.

to give you and idea w/the f23 @ 140 "should not have been going that fast" the rpm's were set on 6300 so what does that tell you.

good luck on picking the right one

the h23 blows *** in fith gear you'll be cruzing at 4k rpm at 80 mph. which i hate.

there's in not much difference between h22 and h23 tranny. i cant tell at all except fifth gear.

i have a friend with f23 tranny on h22. and those gears are high you can really notice the big gears.

my advice is to go with what ever tranny you have now. then if you need you can always go with f23. but if you have h22/h23 tranny right now use it!!

well i dont have a tranny at all right now thats why i was asking, im still unclear bc "1700anddroping" said h22 is shorter geared allowing fast speed build up, then he said h23/f23 puts the turbo power to good use, so now i'm confused on which is better for my drag application.....

go with f23. it cheaper for you to start with. and if the gears are too tall for you, then go get an h22/h23 tranny. but youre gonna like it

go with the h22 tranny. if your going to the track, your going to not be able to use larger slicks with the f22/f23 trannys at all. you will be way out of powerband at the end of the track... thats a BAD thing. go with the h22, you will love it. especially if you use 24 inch slicks... which is what your going to use if you make good power. what car is this setup going in?? civic/lude/accord???

oh yea, the h22 and h23 are different but not by much. i think the final drives are the same but the h22 has slightly closer gears. its a noticable difference...
