What do you guys know about Spec Clutch's?
Well since my quaife has taken a crap on my car and I have the tranny out, I figure it is time to replace the clutch. One of the shops I deal with are reccomending Spec Clutch http://www.specclutch.com/specMain.html
Anybody have any first hand experience with Spec? good/bad?
Thanks

i had a spec stage 3 clutch in my 250whp focus, I took it to the track many times and it held up great. I now have a spec stage 4 in my 92 hatch with a built a6/z6 engine, it is rated for like 300+ lbs of torque. Right now im running 10psi but when i put my t04e 50 trim on im going to boost 15-20psi. The pedal feel is the same as stock and the engagment can be a little rough but not as bad as the act clutches. I got my spec stage 4 clutch from mcnews automotive for 319.
I was surprised at the price of the clutch because my spec stage 3 for my focus was 430 bucks and only rated for around 220 lbs of torque but the stage 4 for my civic was 1 stage bigger and 100 bucks less.

we used one on a turbo subaru 2.5rs (pre-usdm sti days) and it would slip when it got heated up. even once the car was returned to N/A it would still slip. but maybe they work better on honda.

I have a spec stage three clutch, pp and lightened FW in my modded B18c Honda. I have been happy with it but have only tracked it four times. Unfortunately last weekend at Road Atlanta something failed in the tranny. I have not had the time to take the tranny out to look at it but suspect (not confirmed) a strap on the pressure plate went south. Worked fine one second, then on a 4th to 5th (slow shift don't want to hit third!) shift on the back straight the clutch pedal felt stiff and the clutch was gone to lunch. I could see that the clutch cable was actuating the selector "thingy" sticking out of the ITR tranny. I am not abusive to drivetrains. Been a clutch driver for 28 years and even with a few thousand track miles on my 94 tt supra 6sp and and 85,000 street miles my OEM clutch, pp, and FW were fine. Wished I could tell now what what has gone bad but can not. That is when I found out that there is not one traffic light or stop sign I have to stop for in the 180 miles it took to limp the car to my home in one gear.
