just bought 86 accord, need little help
86 accord lx carbed 5spd
was changing alternator few days ago and i screwed up at the onset. forgot to undo battery terminals and i arced it good to the intake from the positive wire. after i finished, turned ignition key to "on" and there was a loud random clicking from the engine compartment and the battery light on the dash was flashing in unison. it's a relay that i cant find any info on. it bolts to the passenger strut tower. anyway, i left it alone till the morning (finished like 12am) and turned key to "on" again and it did the same. cranked it and eventually the light and clicking went out. haynes manual says nothing about the location of a fusible link. i think my problem is i fried it 99%. sometimes the light vaguely flashes with the rhythm of the car idling, then mysteriously goes away. and it does it more at night with lights, heat, etc going.
so please lemme know if im right and the location of the fuse. im also thinking of strapping a new wire with a new fuse straight from the alt to the + on the battery, bypassing the stock fusebox. if this is ok, lemme know what size fuse to use (65 or 70?)
a little info on myself, i have plenty experience in car forums and am mechanically inclined, bought this car a couple weeks ago for $750 with 500 miles on a rebuilt engine (brother rebuilt it) and 219k on odometer. Have already put another $300 into it on alternator, radiator, and all tune-up and other little things u can think of.
