hey whats up on a 93 del sol theres a plug down by the air firlter what does it go to?

i dont have any pics but it is a three prong plug that's routed down to were the air box would be if it had one. the connector is the same set up as the mapi know this because someone had it pluged in to the map sensor and it ran alright for a while but now it surges when ideling?? i dont know?
