HYDROLOCK ??? B18 Crx, Who thinks im screwed?????????????
Ya the first thing I would of did was park the car at home and did an oil change
that will tell you alot. grab a bowl from your kitchen make sure no one see's you
and drain that oil we all know that water is liter then oil so you will see some water on top.Your motor can burn water if you get some in there but if its alot the water will
soak the cylinder and prevent the spark from firing. your best bet is spaying some
starter fliud in your intake manifold or takeing off the spark plugs and put a teespond
of gas in your cylinder.
thats just my .02

Yeh if your hydrolocked your car would barely turn over, if at all. Maybe you now have an ignition or electrical problem. At the same time this happened so maybe you think it was the puddle. When its a wear and tear occurence. lol

yea bud, dont worry at all. like these guys have said, if your motor was hydrolocked, it wouldnt run or even turn over. A friend of mine just had his hydrolocked motor replaced not too long ago. his cai pointed right to the ground, he hit a hole in the ground full of water and that intake sucked every bit of water up. He mangled two pistons, twisting and snapping one con rod in half and bending another one. to be on the safe side, we cut the intake tube and changed its direction so that it didnt point to the ground and i built him a flat shield that goes under the intake. sure it might rob some cold rushing air, but better be safe than sorry. you however, sould like you got very lucky
After driving thru a deep puddle on the free way on ramp, my rex just died. I thought I hydrolocked but it turned out that I just ran out of gas and the incline sloshed the gas away from the pick up. But yeah, if you hydrolocked you wouldn't be still driving it around.
yeah when my car hydrolocked it shut off and didn't turn back over until I took the spark plugs out, then it ran terrible. It hrdoloacked, but the insurance paid for a new motor since it was during the hurricane season and the road was flooded.
Sounds like what happend to you I had wished happend to me. Probably sucked only a little bit of water.
If you were hydroLOCKED your engine wouldn't move. I tried push starting mine (sounds stupid but I didn't know what hydrolocking was being in socal) and when I let out the clutch it would stop like I slammed on the brakes.
I would call your insurance and see if they cover flood damage for your car. If they do check the engine or have a professional before you make the claim to make sure its damaged. Also becareful too, being that your car is old they may want to total it out. In that case you'd have a salvaged title.
After going through this I don't have the cai anymore its cut short.
I do still have the b20, this time with VTEC.

ummm no thats not what happens. when you get water in there, it keeps the piston from reaching TDC. water does not compress like gas and air, h2o in liquid form is the most compressed it can ever get. if you get enough water in there then you can bend and break rods from the engine trying to compress it.
if your engine runs like **** its possible you bent something. but if it seems to run normal then you may have gotten lucky and come out unscathed.

Yeah if you get a little bit of water in the cylinders it will be fine, its actually an old trick, you can purposely spray water into your engine to steam clean the inside basically.

i was talking about when he said the way water affects the engine is by preventing the spark plugs from firing. while that might be true, when you have that much water in there, your spark plugs not firing is the least of your worries.
