90-91 engine wiring harness converting to work with 88-89 chassis harness? need help!
just as the topic says. im putting in a b16a obd0 engine in my 1988 crx hf and i accidently sold the hf engine wiring harness. i found a 1990 HF 5spd harness and im wondering if i could get it to work? would i have to re-pin anything and if so what? this is my only chance becuase i can't find any other 88-89 harness for sale.
There are ways to make the harness from a 90 ef to work but you are going to find it very difficult considering the end of the harness on the driverside firewall is totally different. It does not have the same amount of pins, the connector is to small, and the you should have the extra connector for the resistor box on the engine harness.
The wiring conversion is alot easier with the stock harness, and if you would like I could probably source one for you down here in Texas for a reasonable price because 88 and 89 EF's are a dime a dozen in the junk yards around here.
It is a really large headache. I am going through the same problem right now and I went down to the local junk yard and pulled a harness of an 88 civic dx hatch, which made things alot easier.
oh yeah! you have no idea how much that would help me out. this is the only thing keeping me from putting my project together. so you could search for the 88-89 hf and si harnesses right? becuase the si harness should be the same from what i hear.
