Default 2001 V-tec head

The shop that i work at just replaced a full motor on an Ex Civic. We still have the old motor, complete. The problem is it threw a rod, but the head is fine. We have all the wiring and sensors needed. Im not too familiar with the newer civics and am wondering do newer civics (2001 and newer) Do v-tec head swaps, and if so, how much do they go for? Even better if anyone wants it let me know

What surprises me the most is that you work for a shop, an automotive shop that deals with engine swaps, yet you still spell it v-tec.

*shrugs shoulders*

So for anybody who stumbles across this thread, PLEASE dont hit the reply button UNLESS you are giving info on the V-TEC head. If i wanted your opinion i woulda asked for it in the original thread

You won't get to many responses now that you want people to talk about the V-TEC head.

I don't see why you couldn't do a mini-me on the newer civics. As long as the bolts line up, it should work.....use common sense man.

ok u cant make me look stupid if u cant even answer my question. IM THE MECHANIC hence im the one who knows how to do this. My question (rephrased) is if there is a market for the newer heads? the fact that we replaced the entire engine must mean that i know the mechanical part. But i must not be a real mechanic because i spell vtec wrong. ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS IF PEOPLE DO HEAD SWAPS FOR 2001s LIKE THEY DO FOR THE OLDER CIVICS, THAT IS ALL!

how bout u put your money where mouth is? Tell me where asking if people who own 2001 civics if they do mini me head swaps makes me a stupid mechanic? AND why even bother stating ur opinion? This isnt a General discussion forum, this is a TECH forum. If your not gonna give technical advice, then dont respond to my thread. Stop trying to make yourself look cool by trying to put me down, cause its not working.

well TECHnically asking the question if there is a market for 2001+ VTEC head is NOT a tech related question. That would be better served in the CLASSIFIEDS or general discussion.

lol, go to http://www.7thgencivic.com if you want info. Don't even bother doing a headswap, if you want power, go FI. I think it's pretty pointless to do a headswap on the D17, it is a unpowered ULEV with a plastic intake manifold and the vtec is tuned for getting good mileage.

well TECHnically im not trying to sell anything on this thread, its a question on a civic part, therefore making it a TECH question. Just because im not asking on how to install it doesnt make it not a tech question. To be quite honest i dont even care for an answer anymore cause this is beyond ridiculous that its that hard for someone to answer my question. Majority here knows nothing, you all just rack up your post percentage by giving opinions, not valid info. None of you know anything about cars. Who cares if im a mechanic asking a question? or if i mispell vtec? or if its the wrong place to ask? whats the deal? Just give info, or dont. That s the point of Honda-tech. I earned my 160 posts or so by actually giving info and tech information, not bashing someone, cause i have a life and dont really care to waste my time correcting someones english. so get a life, a clue, or something, really.

LOL thats right...I am pre-occupied with my post count and my wonderful 100%. Meanwhile 75% of my posting is done in GDD where post count doesnt change. You came in here throwing around needless insults, of course people are going to jump on you. So take you hard earned 164 post and 96% and get some more tech bubby.

if you are the mechanic, then why did you ask the ******* question. I really don't give a **** that you put a hyphen in vtec, but if you are gonna come on here saying, I AM THE MECHANIC HENCE< I AM THE ONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO DO THIS, then you are NOT going to make many friends that way, hence you will not get an answer to your question. So do us all a favor and shut the **** up! Just cuz you are a "So-Called" mechanic doesn't mean ****, you could work at a junkyard for all we know, I really don't give a ****. And by the way, you can do a mini-me on the newer civics, there was a write up about it a while back, so why not try searching, and save us all the hassle!

i got on all ur cases because u all jumped on mine! u can curse so i guess that makes u tough.... i never bragged saying im the smart one and ur not! it just seems every question or post i put up people just nitpick about stupid things. all i wanted was an answer... And ur right, im not a huge big time mechanic rolling in the dough, i work at a repair shop that happens to have a vtec head lying around. o save a hassle? i didnt know that typing in "yeah alot of people do mini me swaps on new civic" or "no, because of warranties on newer engines limits the market" was a huge hassle. I only got defensive because people got on my case first. i guess if i check a thread and cant help the person out, i just leave. and the 96% rating is because i thought it was cool to curse too. I guess i dont see the point of responding if ur response is "i dont know" or "get a clue" or "do a search" i asked cause i didnt know. i didnt need to be put down, or banned because i simply defended myself.

you pretty much told me to go f*ck myself. kinda hard to just leave it at that. This will be the 24th post..... 2 of the 24 posts have been for what was asked and 8 have been me having to defend myself and reask the question hoping someone with knowledge on the subject will help, which leaves 14 posts of people ripping apart my question for no reason, only becasue they have nothing better to do than put me down. Thats why i acted the way i did. If people responded by answering the question i wouldve thanked everyone for their info and that woulda been it. It is not my fault this thread went to crap.
