Opinions on best way to learn to weld
I'm having the electrical done in my garage next week and will have my Miller Syncrowave 180 in 3 weeks, now all I need to do if figure out how to use it.
Are there any good videos you can recommend on welding? I work a lot of hours, so going to a welding class is not in the cards right now. I have never TIG welded but I am very mechanically inclined.
Any resources you could recommend would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I learned more in a 6 week class form my local VoTech then I ever could have messing around in the garage by myself. There are a lot of good books on welding, but nothing can beat hands-on experience and an experienced instructor helping you out. IMO, learning to TIG with no prior welding experience will be frustrating. But check out your local library for some books, they can help you understand the basics of welding and somepf the principles behind it.

i did exactly as he said and it helped out a ton. if you have problems you have someone to ask right there. you dont have to come on here and post and ask for help and wait and wait. it only cost me about $250 for 12 three hour classes. plus you can learn on their metal and their filler rods and tungstens and gas

and gas. and filler rod. and metal. and tungstens. and aggravation. i basically could lay a decent bead in the first class i had but then the other 11 classes were just doing different metals and mastering it(well not quite yet). i could ask my teacher how i could do it better and he was a big help. now i have my syncrowave 180 to play with now that classes are over and i'm not worried about messing it up
