i am working on getting this 97 civic (hx) and i noticed that the paint is peeling! i've talked to a few of my friends and they said it happens a lot with the 96-00 civic silver color... what is that about? did honda have a recall on there silver civics for paint? what should i do to fix it? or maybe even stop it befor it's to late... i don't want to have to repaint the whole car......

 

Are you sure it's not just oxidizing? As in the clearcoat peeling off? Maybe the previous owner never waxed the car/or obviously didn't take care of the paint.

i don't think it's oxidizing.... it's like a white color underneeth.... it happened on the front bumper, part of the hood and fender and a spot on the door.... it's wierd. he said maybe he drove through somthing, but my other friends siver ex did it an he always waxed that thing!

 

Honda isnt goint to recall a car because of a paint defect. Recalls are reserved for safety issues....

 

another possibility is that it might not even be it's original paint if it really is peeling and "white" underneath...
