CRX si or GTI 16v
I might have the option to sell my '89 CRX and get a '89 GTI with 68,xxx miles
!!!
The GTI is completely stock...and in great condition
Now my rex has 241,xxx miles with a newer si engine(still d16a6). I have i/h/e, neuspeed springs with tokico blues. and some other small misc. stuff.
what should I do? try not to be biased

i always thought GTI have 2v per cylinder...iv driven the old GTI before and thought the crx si were peppier...
think about dumping ur stock motor and getting a low milage Z6 motor...
...sorry its hard not to be bias...tried my best tho

i love both cars. hell i have owned both cars. the crx will have just as many parts for it as the 16v. they both have about the same getup and go. the 16v has a back seat+ i dont like the fuel system on them- its not seen everyday like our crxs+ its low miles+ its very easy to swap in vr6 motors+ or even better a g60++
the crx has already had work done to it+ the crx has no back seat- the crx gets better gas milage+ you see rexs everyday with work done to them-
its hard to say i love both but if your looking for a good german car ya cant get much better and still afford it. if the priceis right get it. if can realy afford it keep both. just my babble talk. take it for what its worth

You want headaches, go VW.
BTW about the VR6/A2 hauling ***.
so does a 2.0L 20 valve in a A1 chassis.
VR6's never knew what happened.
Thanks Audi

yeah I hear the fuel systems suck and there are some tranny problems..
The asking price is $3,500. The owner now is someone i know(it just sits there while the daughter is at college) and the previous owner was the girls dad's secretary. so I am sure it was not beaten on
I am still debating.. suppose to go look at it agian today. late

Those guys should be able to answer all your questions.
As for your question, I'd pick a GTi!

thanks... I have been reading some stuff on Vortex the last few days... My email is down so I can't get my password to log-in. yeah I am leaning towards the GTI, but there is something special about a crx...
Nothing beats the Honda aftermarket in the US, if you lived in Europe you'd probably be better off with a Golf MKII with a VR6 or 1.8 Turbo swap since there is this HUGE aftermarket and used parts can almost be found at every scrappyard! (and almost none for Honda!)
Personally I chose for a CRX SiR ! Why? You gotta love the detication which Honda engineers put into these cars !!!!!!!!

keep the crx, and get a b16a in it, if you arent satisfied with the power outpu of the b16 motor, then just simply get an "LS" block, boy you'll feel the difference. nothing like a good ol "LSVTEC" or "CRVTEC". crvtec will be my motor hopefully within the next 6 months. i dont know much about the vw besides that it's made in germany.
Well if i keep the rex I am not gonna do a swap or anything...already had a swap and i don't wanna deal with it again...
i just drove the GTI and man is it quick. I would say as quick as my crx is now...
well I'll let you know how it goes.

The 89 GTI came with a 1.8 dohc CIS fuel injection system... not that great..but the 90-92 came with the 2.0 and they got rid of the CIS type injection...but went to some thing that runs a chipable computer... As for the tranny probblems....the **** linkage in the A2 cars SUCK!!!! they have a lot of slop and play in them, alos the syncros for 2~3 suck ..well..there a little worse than B series ones after a while...
Also as far as parts go...Hell yes there **** is exspesive!!!!...
Tought call though....you'll have to make it..

before i got my hatch, i wanted a gti. They are cool as hell. It would be different. IF its nice, go for it.
I love the look of slammed a2's with 13" wheels. check out the performance VW mag if you havent already.

stay with the crx..... my good friend has a 2.0l 16v golf a really rare golf its nice and all but my crx is way faster with my stock si motor i could beat him, he added stuff and i could beat him still with my zc and now my B16 smokes the ish out of him!! and its been alot of problems his first 2.0l 16v motor blew a head gasket so he bought a new motor and that was a bitch to put in! it still doesnt run right it actually broke down tonight! the fuel systems are ancient compared to ours his is a 91 and he has mototronic injection which is pretty much MECHANICAL injection
and everytime he drives my car and hits vtec he cant wipe the smile off his face! i like vw's my first car was a full race rabbit hella fun but they are nothin compared to hondas in comforts and technology, and the trannys do suck they are low gearing like stock crx si 4th gear is their 5th gear! crappy for freeway and the gearing is weird it is also bad for drag racing!??!? i dont really get it but i suggest buying a b16 or some thing bigger with VTEC and you will forget about the DUB!! ohh yah and the performance parts are hard to come by!i hope this sways you towards keeping the CRX!

try the gti out, i currently have two gti's and now i have an 88 hatch that i'm building for 12's, i can't get there in a vw. i have one gti with a g60 stage 3 setup and the other is a 2.0l sohc. They are great cars, the 2.0l 16v rips, (that's what the gti you're interested in has) they are easy as hell to swap, just like hondas. the only cool part is that there aren't many around like your typical crx's if you roll up in your gti and kick some *** it'll be more impressive than in your crx, but you won't be getting into the 12's with your gti and definately not Naturally aspirated.
either way good luck, they're both great cars

VW requires a different mindset. Gotta learn to know the car. Usually it will tell you before it dies.
the big problem w/ vw's is how much parts are...expect to pay like twice as much for a vw part than what you'd pay for a honda part...
