Default problems with engine tranny help.

ok here is my dilema i have. I had a great deal on this motor that was complete with tranny manifold etc. (b16) i got it for 1050 with shipping. when i recived it i checked it out clean and to my surprise the transmission was an lsd.

Anyways as time went by i saved enuff money to swap it in. it took us about 3-4 days to actually swap it in due to some probles with axels and hubs. finally wen everithing was done i drove it for a day or so took it to work. As im comming out of work i notice a leak under the car i right away go under to se from what side it was comming from.

from the tranny side. i then take it home lift the car up check it out and i forgot to change the axle seals and the oil pan gasket. I buy the parts degrease it put them in thinking the leaks ended i continue driving to work. As i come out of work i notice the leak again. Now only from the drivers side.

i looked and looked, i even asked some of u in here if u had any idea from where it could come from. i got some great answeres i checked it out and still the leak was no where to be found.

I decided to take it to a mechanic shop to check it out. it took him about 2 days to find the leak, the hole time it was comming from the oilpan side. he told me that who ever put it back together used the wrong bolts to bolt it right up and it went throught something i really dont remember through what but he said it was a 200-400 dollar part plus the labor. he also said i had problems with the tranny it wasnt going into 1st 3rd or reverse. i had to keep on trying to actually get it in right. he told me that basically my transmission is gone.

Now im not to sure i got a good deal on the motor at all because of all the hedaches i've had with the swap. i know not all swaps go smoothly but, i was wondering if you guys/girls think i should continue on and smooth out all these problems or just get rid of the car and starts something new.

i need to know if i need a lsd tranny to replace my old one or just any b16 tranny will do, and how much does it run for?

thanks to all.

1. Sorry bout your troubles, but you get what you pay for.
2. LSD is an option on the trannies. A regular B16 one should work just fine. Don't know price

Good luck man
