Default speedometer cable?

recently, my speedometer and odometer both stopped working. i'm assuming a broken cable is to blame. does anyone have any tips as far as replacing the cable?

It's pretty easy. Remove instrument cluster and remove cable. If it's broken you'll need to also disconnect the speedo cable at the tranny. Install replacement cable. Throwing code 17?

your clip for the speedo cable connection to the speed sensor may have just popped off and your speedo cable could have fallen out, check that first, its easier
