Vehicle Speed Sensor problem..

Default Vehicle Speed Sensor problem..

I was just driving down the street and the CEL came on.. It was throwing code 17, Vehicle Speed Sensor.. Now my Speedometer dont work.. Where is this peice? I need to pick up i guess. Also, will this code be thrown if my speedo cable is hooked wrong?

It's possible the cable just came out... look UNDER the throttle body... at the top of the transmission... thre'a cable that supposed to go in that "bulge" of a sensor coming out of the top of the transmission... It's JUST BESIDE the rear motor mount... If the cable is in it, take out that one 10mm bolt and wiggle the sensor out... check for broken teeth.

If you have a crazy clutch, and teeth are missing on the speedo sensor, you might want to start thinking about a tranny replacement, unfortunately... mine did that at the track when I launched HARD a few times... it ate the differential.

his sensor is behind the dash, not on the tranny.

But check your speedo cable at the tranny first. The little clip is a PITA to get the boot over.
