Need opinions on Coilovers
BTW i did search but didnt find what i wanted
I am looking to get some tokico coilovers for my 92 hatch. I do autox and drag race. Do you guys that have the full coilovers like them? I tried a search but couldnt find any threads about the full coilovers just the shocks. I like taking twisty roads so i want to know if they handle good and are worth the money. What are they comparable to?
Thanks in advance

So what do you need a new suspension for and why ask about it here?
Why not try the Wheel, Tire and Suspension forum: https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=48

I need new suspension because the suspension on my car has 400k miles on it. The thread you mentioned is for sponsors selling suspension.

Really?
I just searched for "coilover" in the RR/AX forum. 3 pages of stuff. All of it about coilovers, real and sleeves, JDM and whatever else you like.
Traditionally the answer around here has been Konis and coilover sleeves, because that's *legal* for most racing applications. For 2005 you can run threaded body shocks in IT so this trend may change.

I'm pretty safe saying nobody in here knows what "works" on a car that does drag racing. I can't imagine an ultimate solution for both being anything other than...two cars.

I actually took FTD PAX in my lunchbox on old, busted kumhos at one event
Do what Karl said and search - springs, coilovers, suspension, etc should be your search terms, look over the archived topics and expect a few hrs mulling over the existing threads. Oh, and keep the jackassery off the streets - not worth it.

I am not looking for an ultimate setup for both drag and autox, i want to know if the tokico coilovers are worth the money, how they handle and so on.
Like i said i searched for tokico coilovers and various combinations and couldnt find any threads about people that actually owned the coilovers just the shocks.

I don't think there is such a thing anyway.
But maybe a best compromise setup.
Just curious though why you're stuck on Tokico's?

Well the guy that did my turbo setup has tannabe sustec pro coilovers and he loves them but they are out of my price range so he said the tokicos are compable to the tannbes. He said he has installed many tokico coilovers with great results. He said they are far better than any sleeve kit such as the agx/skunk2 kits. I trust his opinion 100%, i was just looking for opinions from anyone that has these.

18K rears, wheelie bars.
...
Edit to add value to my own stupid post,
Sounds like you want a good compromise street/drag/autox suspension.
If money IS an object, these are an awesome value. Lots of sponsors sell them online, should be able to pick them up for less than $600 (I got $575 shipped.)

Maybe a mix-n-match 18K rears, 10 or 12K front would work well. A little rough for the street. I run 12K front, 10K rear and they are fine on the street. Call a dealer or Omnipower themselves to see what they can work out.

my opinion for what its worth at this point, unlike RJ, i think illuminas are fine shocks. they can handle higher rates. i dont know what spring rates come with their kit. but i imagine they will be a good improvement for the street. but not as best suited for competition where its ideally best to customize the spring rates if you can tune it.

Honestly though. agx/skunk2 sleeves can be had for 450 or so, this may not be true in all cases but wouldnt you tend to think that a coilover setup that costs twice as much as another has to of better quality and have better performance?

You don't always get what you pay for. .Rghey was oversimplifying.
If you can get stronger springs and matching shocks in rear, you should have a decent compromise setup. But really- there won't be a "competitive" setup for both autox and drag, that'll be streetable. I still say get the Omnis or some other coilover in your budget with stiff rears. (A clever bit about the Omnis you can swap the shock/springs front and rear, so a 12K/8K setup can become a 8K/12K setup.)

looks like the only difference is the progressive spring rate, over what you can duplicate with a GC setup.
diameter of the spring seat hopefully is 2.5", then it could be used with ERS if you wanted to custom tune it later.

No. Dont let the pretty packaging and blingin appearance fool you. For twice the price, Koni+GC (shocks for 550, sleeve kit for 350 w/ custom rates) will outperform it in every way. Just because its a "full coilover" as the riceboys like to say (threaded body, matching purple springs, pillowball mounts - which do nothing on a honda, btw) dont make them better.

Twice the price? Im talking about the tokico illumina coilovers for 850 not the tokico struts and springs for 400
