rebuilt would have to use old compressor and exhaust housing look for wear on the turbo. New should look like it was just made no oil in there. NO RUST. Rebuilt turbos are usually rebuilt inside and clean on the outside.

There looks to be new wheels on it... the housings do look scuffed. the exhaust has got silver coating (the seller didn't tell me there were any thermal coating or anything like that)... and there is the smell of oil... it doesn't smell like engine oil... but cutting oil (it has a stronger stinch than engine oil)... the oil inlet is not tapped... the packaging coulbe be more desirable... no passage plugs (to prevent stuff from falling into the turbo)... and was place in a box with alot of loose styrofoam... and lastly, tt's supposed to be a garrett t3/t04b... the compressor has a a/r 60 on it.. is that right?

thanks for all your quick replies... i figure this would be a previously discussed topic.. since there are so many rebuilt turbos floating around... maybe this will be the first..
