Im wondering if anyone has had the guts to put a different motor in their S.
Im thinking along the lines of the RB series or 2jz.
I dont think putting a foreign drivetrain would be too hard to do for me(click some links in my sig to see what I have done
), basically make a couple of motor mounts, run a standalone, and use whatever rear end is supposed to be used with that motor/trans combo.
Im betting that this could be done without cutting the car so it could all be reversed easily.
I havent seen anything like this yet, and Im NOT planning to do this, but I thought Id ask if anyone has seen/done anything like this

I think someone on http://www.s2ki.com has swapped an LS1 into their S.
Last year at NOPI (to which i have finally vowed to never attend again...it has been over powered by rice too much now, which is sad, given how much rice has been there in previous years)...
Anyways...they had a black S2000, black hardtop, CF hood and what looked like a Mugen front bumper...noticed the intercooler on it and went and though the hood wasnt open, it had a display next to it...SR20DET blacktop swapped in it, pushing like 450whp and pretty high torque as well...i didnt get to see anything but pictures cause the hood was closed, but it looked like a very clean swap, seemed to fit very snuggly but i guess given the ease of turbo'ing that engine, its not too bad of an idea, as long as its modded, because i know the stock SR20DET is not even on par with the stock S2k motor.

I'm a member of 2ki.com (s2000 international) and have been for almost 2 yrs.
1) LS1 swap is fake
2) Never seen or heard of the blacktop swap - had it been done, I'm sure it would have popped up on s2ki.com. Probably a good reason why the hood wasn't popped, because it either wasn't finished, or never started in the first place.
Other than that, i've never heard of another engine going in an s2000

Unless he just has a great talent at photoshop, the display showed multiple pictures of the swap, before, during, after...i mean sure, he could have been lying but with a display, im really doubting that he'd have it setup like that (with the trophies as well) and had never opened the hood...we were there before the show started and nobody had their cars open so there could be pictures some where, i dont care enough to look honestly but im sure there out there somewhere.
And honestly...being a part of S2Ki doesnt privy you to everything in the scene, we have 4 guys with S2000's, one very nice heavily modded one and they had never even heard of the site when i asked them if they were gonna attend the meet in Tennesee...so yeah, not all S2000's are on that site, it could just be a guy that doesnt care about the internet...never know.
Anyways...im not trying to convince nobody, aint my car lol...just something i saw. (and i dont really see why it'd be all that out of the question anyways, pretty cheap and common engine, could have been a blown to **** S2K bought at auction, and maybe just had the engine laying around...who knows...who cares? lol

I'm not saying that the black top swap owner would be a member of s2ki.com....but it would probably be a good chance that SOMEBODY from the board would have at least heard about it or seen it.

Oh I know, this was more a curiosity thing
When mine goes boosted, Im not even going to bother with the stock differential, this will probably be the only "bastard" part that finds its way onto my car.

wow! you must be the king of all information regarding the s2000.
Conserding I've talked to a few people who can verify images of the LS1 s2000, I don't believe it to be "a myth."

i never claimed to be the king of anything.
All I'm saying is that there has been EXTENSIVE discussion on s2ki.com about the supposed LS1 swap and the owner. Just do a search for LS1 or Top Secret video and you'll see what I mean.
Second, "verify images?" As opposed to real life? Photoshop dude......That arguement is about as strong as mine.
Being an s2k owner, you should know just as good as me that almost anything in the s2k community shows up on s2ki.com sooner or later. Don't you think the SR20 thing would have popped up?

Nope, Nissan unit. I know someone in Australia has done it with an R33 rear end(those are common as Taurus's over there), so a rear end out of any of the RWD Nissans will work for me as long as is LSD

03_AP1...relax man, you are way too bent on trying to prove yourself right. Seriously, who cares if you, me or anyone else is right or wrong, this guy asked if we had ever heard or seen crazy swaps in S2000's...we posted what we knew...your sitting there trying your hardest to PROVE to us that we are wrong, or what we heard is wrong or doesnt exist...give it up man, i dont give a **** really if there is or isnt an SR20DET, if the guy doesnt really have that engine in there, thats on him, not me...i saw the display, i thought it was kinda cool, so i posted about it.
Bottom line man...no one gives a **** if things havent shown up on S2Ki...sure its a good bet that is SHOULD have been on there, but maybe it hasnt...who cares?

For one it is an LS6, his name is AlexF20C
Rare never before seen photos except for on http://www.srtforums.com
He also tried to show a video on that forum of "his car" later proved to be a s2000 w/itbs, he admitted he lied but says it really does exsist. Bullshit!!

It happens....not like this place is spic and span.....
I think engine swaps would be a no brainer on these...the only problem is the relative high cost of the car at this point. Its worked great for the Miata, and the S2000 is a very similar car. An LS1 would probably only add 200 lbs or so, which would not make that big of a difference and the double TQ would be pleasuring to say the least.

Id like to see an I-6 of some sort, itd be cool as hell
If I have any engine problems, Ill look into an RB25 or something crazy. Ive done about the craziest swap known to these boards, so keeping the same drivetrain orientation should be a piece of cake.

maybe my mind is just broader than most. I guess I just see a shatload of room for a longer motor. Although the PS assembly would have to be removed/relocated, or replaced with an RX7 unit.
