Default Opinions on intake manifolds ?

Mods to date CAI with 70mm tubing, Crower stage 2 cams, springs, retainers, FPR, Unichip programmeable ECU and decatted custom exhaust, already have Type S pistons and header.

Been looking at a 70mm STR throttle body and STR, Venom etc. intake manifolds. Is this a worthwhile upgrade and how do the STR and Venom manifolds compare to the new Skunk 2 intake manifold.

Cheers,

Firthy

Im not sure which intake manifold to go with but The most restrictive part of any induction system is the factory intake manifold.

Kev, I believe the Venom "style" manifolds are more suited to f/i motors. The S2 manifolds also require a bit of work to get sensors sorted etc. Speak to Jakan, as I know they've recently fitted the S2 to a gen 4 (search for user "blooduk" on Honda revs forum - he's got some pictures somewhere).

By the way, you KNOW you want to save up for those dolphinboy ITB's

The only real n/a options that exist would be a Skunk2 or Euro-R . . . and both have their issues.

It sounds like you've got a pretty comprehensive setup - if I were you I'd look into having someone custom make one for your engine. It'll probably involve making provisions for the IAC & EGR, but that's no different than any of the other "bolt-on" options available.

Yeah, don't get an STR or Venom, those manifolds are for forced induction. I'd say Skunk2 or Euro R...

Thanks for the reply, that's exactly what I wanted to know, so the STR and Venom are out then.

The Blacktrax option looks interesting, might be worth trying that one.

The mechanic who does my car has just custom made a manifold, air inlet chamber and trumpets for ITB's from a Honda Fireblade to fit on an ITR along with Jun Stage 3 cams, DTA ECU etc.

Here is a pic of them, should be awesome when tuned. Very tempting but expensive option.

I wouldn't use the plenum on top of the ITB's, but that's just me.
