outta state purchase
Looking to purchase a type R Is it a big problem trying to register a vehicle from another state? Seems that many Type R for sale on autotrader are not in california. Any help would be appreciated, especially from members who have gone through the process. Thanks in advance.
My brother just bought a truck the was registered in Florida. It really was not a hassle at all but he had to get his truck weighed for some reason. Now I do not know if this is only for trucks but It should probably be something you should look into. Other than that there have been many owners who have traveled to different states to pick up their R's

you will have no problem at all. i know from experience. looked in socal for a decent ride, they were all junk so i went out of state all the way to michigan.
heres what you need to do:. also remember each state is different
0. get a carfax report for the car. then>
1. you need to call that city's dmv where the car is at.
2. ask them you need an intransit permit (this is a paper plate that will let you drive the car out of state for 14 days)and they will explain to you what you need to get that each state is different so write it down. and also ask where all the dmv's in that city are so you can find it easily once you get there.
3. inorder to get the temporary plate you need the title and bill of sale, your license and you need to have the car insured so you need to talk with your insurance company and tell them your buying this car and give them the vin# and they can put liability insurance on it, and then complete the full insurance once you bring the car into the state. you will not pay any registration fees because your registering the car in california not the state you bought the car from.
4.you need to get the car smogged then once you get that done take the paperwork to dmv and its just like any other car.
let me know if you need any other help... i bought a car in michigan and drove back to california (2 day road trip)
