Are Precision GT turbos really THAT much of an improvement over the SC series?
I keep changing my mind about the turbo I want. GT3561--->GT3255, and now maybe an SC34 or SC44. BTW, I was going to do an LSVTEC, but now it's going to be poor man's type r so I can retain all the OBD2 sensors. I think an SC61 or GT3561 is too much lag for me, but I still want something with plenty of top end on the highway, and I'm leaning towards the SC34 after reading some threads last night. However, most of these people were using this on the B16, so maybe an SC44 would be better for me? BTW, I'm looking to get around 350whp.
Do you mean GSR block with pr3?
IMO it's pointless to do that, unless you already have the head, just go with a gsr longblock. .

I already have a B16a with an ITR intake manifold in a '99 Si. Otherwise, I'd agree with you.

im gonna be running a Gt32 from percision and expect to make around 350whp on my first gen b16. Im going to run a thicker HG and up the boost to around 15psi to get the gt32 in the sweet spot.

Thanks man, but does anyone have any experience between both series of turbos? The SC's are cheaper, and I've heard that there's not much of an improvement in the GT (unless you go BB, of course).
If you want really good top end get the sc61. The .56 trim sc61 on my car hits full boost by 4500rpm and never quits pulling. On the dyno charts you can see that this turbo will keep making power the higher you rev the motor, im just limited because my motors stock.
9psi at 4500 on a B16 with an SC61? That's impressive. Everything else I've read says they reach full boost after at leas 5k. That's strange.

thats weird for all the GB or prices i have gotten, the GT32 is cheaper then the SC series turbo.

I read somewhere on here that the GT series is replacing the SC? It's all pretty confusing to me. I thought that the SC61 was the only turbo in the SC series that used a GT wheel, which is more efficient, and now there's an entire line of GT turbos. So the GT3561 doesn't replace the SC61, and the GT3561 is cheaper? Why are they cheaper??
The GT turbos do cost more than the SC turbos. Just the GT32 costs slightly less. The GT35 turbo costs more than any SC turbo.
Thanks for the clarification. Almost the entire line of SC turbos are the same price all the way up to the SC61, but each GT turbo has a different price?
get the GT3255E, that sthe one im getting and it should be a fun turbo.

That's the one I was really leaning towards for a while. It should spool pretty quick, and that's something I'm not sure I want, because of traction issues I already have with a TD05H-18G Greddy, even with a Quaife. A GT3561 might be overkill for my goals (350whp), but I want to make sure it pulls all the way to redline.

trust me that turbo is not over kill for your setup. It starts to get in the efficentcy / swee spot range around 300-400whp.
I say get it and youwont regret it.

i dont believe that the sc series turbo's come with the "shrouded " compressor housing. i belive the shroud in the gt series could aid in spool up as well as top end hp.
