Default Head removal on 88 STD..

Should I set the motor to TDC,, then take the head off??and if so How do you set the motor to TDC..

How do you remove valve springs?..Do I really need that tool or can I just use a socket and force it..?

With the head off I should clean the pistons..What do I clean with??

How heavy is the head itself with intake manifold attatched??

Can this be done with hand tools??

If anyone can answer my questions or maybe give a link to a site on how to remove a head on a 88 STD motor that would be great ..Thanks

welcome to h-t. i will be the first to say go buy a manual. they always come in handy. it can all be done with hand tools, but why do you plan on taking out the valve springs on a std?
