JDM GSR engine buildup (for N/A)
I'm able to pick up a whole front clip off a JDM Integra SiG (I think its called). Well, I plan to do alot of track days with my car.
So what kind of engine buildup would be reliable but net me good results?
I have a 98 Integra LS shell, the engine and tranny will be a JDM GSR setup. I have my suspension, braking, all done. Now I gotta finish up the engine to meet my needs to do well on the track.
I am planning to leave the bottom end, and not touch it at all. Intake is a go, Hytech header, and some sort of 2.5" exhaust setup.
I also plan on running Hondata s200 and want to run on the stock injectors. Blox intake manifold, bored TB, fuel pressure reg, and the other normal boltons.
So, what kind of other things should I add to make this setup reliable for daily driving and track abuse.
I'm not sure what cams to go with, Skunk2 stage II? Toda Spec B's? CTR? JDM ITR?
Post up your opinions! I know that this is a broad subject, but any tips will be appreciated.
Thanks

If you are not going to raise the CR, i would go with either CTR, ITR or skunk2 stage 1's.
You will need more compression to make adequite power with 2's.
I dont know much about the blox intake manifolds so Ill leave it at that.
If you have the swap out, you might as well replace the clutch with a stronger one, and while at it get a light weight flywheel (around 8lbs).

While at the track how do you want the car to behave? Do you want midrange with some top-end to sail you away, or do you want just top end (peaky)? Also what majority RPM ranges will you plan on running your motor at the track?

Well with the JDM GSR engine, the compression will be a bit higher than a regular GSR. All i'll probably do to up the compression a bit is put in a Mugen head gasket or something.
Which cams would be better to run? CTR or JDM ITR or Skunk2 stage 1's? And would I have to upgrade to ITR valvetrain?
Yup, the clutch/flywheel i've already got. Going with an Exedy stage 2 clutch and Exedy flywheel.

I basically want a good all around setup, good midrange for good throttle cornering response and good top end when coming outta the turns.
I want the car to be reliable for daily driving and track abuse. So it'll have to hold up pretty good. On the track, it'll be all over the rpm range so I need good all around response.

Well according to your previous posts you are willing to put a Mugen headgasket, that will raise your compression up to approx. 11:1 (JDM GSR = 10.6 + .4 increase according to Mugen). Skunk2 Stg 1 will be great with your setup. Gives more top-end power than CTR/ITR cams. Toda B's will definitely give power more on the midrange and give a bit higher peak numbers than Skunk2 Stg. 1's. Skunk2 Stg. 2's also give good midrange (better than stg. 1) and considerably more top end. For Skunk2 Stg. 1, CTR/ITR cams it is recomended to upgrade to ITR valve springs at least. For Toda B's and Skunk2 Stg. 2 upgrade to valve springs that can handle these (I used Toda valve springs for both of these cams and they worked great). Also I suggest you put in cam gears to optimize your powerband while tuning these cams, especially for Toda B's and Skunk2 Stg. 2's. These cams shine more with higher compression though, at least 11.5-12:1 but with your setup they can definitely work.
