Smoggable d16a6?
I’m looking to do a really mild all motor setup for my ’90 CRX Si. No swaps, just a little headwork and bolt ons for the a6. What I’m curious about is how far I could go and still sneak through a Cali smog check? I’m willing to switch out the header every 2 years, so that’s open (Bisimoto?), and I don’t mind dropping a couple extra bucks to get a CARB exempt intake, but that’s about it. That means that any internal work has got to pass the sniffer. I’m thinking about the most I could get away with would be some head work, a stage 1 cam, and maybe a little bump in compression (by milling the head). I’d add a cam gear, fpr, and afc for tuning, all of which would be removed or set to stock for smog. Can I go bigger? Is what I’ve outlined too much? How high can I (safely) push compression just through milling the head?
Also, I’m sure this has been covered, but the search function is down: Would Exospeed be a good source for the head work and cam?
Dan
Edit: By endyn I meant Exospeed...

you can get our sr909 and do some adjustments on the cam gear and timing. You can still pass smog that way if the motor is good to begin with.
I was able to pass smog even with headwork on the d16a6 with the sr909.
