I just picked up a set of crower camshafts from ebay and when I received them, there were rust spots on the cam lobes of the camshaft. Is this still safe to use or is there something I can do to remove the rust. The seller tried to say he used them for 1200 miles. Becareful when buying from ebay.

 

Probably just surface rust. Try some mild scotch-brite pads and just buff it off...

 

Wouldn't worry too much about it as long as the lobes aren't worn. Light rust is normal if they've not been protected from damp. As already said, some Scotchbrite should sort you out.
