JG could you help this guy out....

The guy asked if you had to resleeve the block when running forged pistons. I know you're supposed to, but I don't have a clue why.

As long as you don't overbore too much, you will be fine with forged pistons and stock sleeves.
Jeff at Importbuilders says they do it often.

I've always herad that because of the material the sleeve is made of, you don't want to bore it. *hone* it, yes.
As for the stock material and the forged pistons, what gsr*lude said was what I've heard also. I've never actually seen anyone run a forged piston on a stock sleeve, and I've never done it, so I'd be reluctant to tell you exactly what would go wrong. However, the stock sleeve isn't as hard as an aftermarket and a forged piston is much more harsh than a stock. I leave the math to you.

Rings and preventing harsh contact of the pistons and walls.
Tell you what, toss in a set on a non sleeved motor and we'll see what happens. I'm not going to do it, but if you think it's safe, try it. If it runs and races for a year without trouble, then you've proven your point and I'll say that what I heard before was wrong.

JG, take a look at the bottom of this thread. I have no firsthand knowledge of stock sleeves with aftermarket pistons, but I trust what Jeff says.

Rather than bloat another thread on this. JE specificly states that you cannot run their pistons on stock sleeves. It doesn't look like any of us have any better answers, so if anyones concerned about it, a call to JE would probably answer some questions.
JE told me that if you went with a custom piston, you could use the stock sleave. that means custom compression ratio, and around an extra $100
