2.0 litre race engine specs for 2005 ?
We are nearing the end of our sprint series down here in the southern hemisphere.
Our class rules have been relaxed a little and we think its time to deal with the 200cc's that we are giving away to the opposition and look for a little more hp.
This season we ran a Dc2 Integra - B18c5 with toda pistons, Toda B's, RC 310, Mugen sump , Toda header with Autronic ecu.. JDM type r 96 g/box with 4.9 final drive and type r diff.
The new class rules have effectively no restrictions so we are looking at the engine options for next year.
Current thinking is to import a set of sleeves [Darton] pistons[?] and rods[?]to take the block out to two litre.[we have spare b18c1 and b18c2 blocks and cranks] Use the type r head with something like toda vtec killer cams [duration ?], jenvey ITB's [48mm]and Toda header.
We are hoping for 250 hp plus at the flywheel without exceeding 9-9500, to give us some reliability.
It is hard/exspensive to get good components down here so we do not have the option of building and testing different configurations on the dyno so need to get the specs right the first time .
Looking forward to you comments and suggestions .

Hey Alan,
Got your email the other day, have not had a chance to reply yet. I think you need to round up some of the guys and ship those cars over here for the 2005 Honda Cup Series...
I need some more Kiwi backup! Derek and I are fighting a losing battle... Well maybe not? Things are looking great, and we expect over a dozen cars for the first round.
I've been flat out getting my car ready to go on display at the JGTC event at California Speedway this weekend. Just finished the new paint job at 1.30am this morning! We've decided that the "Stealth Black" color scheme of 2004 was a bad omen as last season was the worst I can remember in over thirty years racing! So I think a color change is in order? I have three more days to get the thing back together. The car is looking pretty cool and hopefully it should run fast also now that we can take full advantage of the Honda Cup rules we should have reliability as well as HP?
Javier at JG Engine Dynamics thinks he can get close to 300HP at the crank out of my B20 with the new rules? With reliability? We did get 253 at the wheels on Shawn Church's Dynapac last year, So were looking forward to see what he can do with the K-20?
Tom Lepper will be driving our K-20 car next season and we have two other drivers lined up for our third Integra and the Buddy Club Civic Si.
I have to get all these cars ready by February 5th!!
You are allowed to use individual TB's right? Stick with the B20! Or use a B18C and take it out to 2.0 you cant beat cubic inches!
Good luck.

If the buyer for the hotel fronts up i'm keen.
Checked out the freight on the car and it was high but sure I could find something useful to do in someones team . Always up for a bit of testing to keep my eye in !
Good to hear dynapak is being used in the US. Another great kiwi invention .
We have access to one that is transportable . the owner brings it to your house or workshop and charges by the hour. it all fits in a small trailer.
back to the engine. yes we can use ITB's and i am negotiating on a set of Jenvey/Hayward ex USA at the moment .He lives close to your workshop.
The NZ dollars good at the moment but the freight is a killer.
Lots of b20 conversions running on the road here but they have a reputation for being grenades if you pull high revs.so I have been a litte wary.
I been invited to drive in the three endurances races here in an Integra with a B20 so will have a chance to see how it runs.
How do the sleeved B18c's handle the heat? We are already running 250 deg f oil temp in the sump when we are racing hard . admittedly the engine is spending most of its time around 8-9000rpm.
good luck with the new class and hope to be up your way and catch up soon

I don't want to hurt anyones feelings but... I think it was generaly decided that the D series is only good for one thing... A Boat Anchor? No really, I doubt that a D series would be competitive in "Honda Cup." Thats why you still have "Honda Challenge"... However, there is nothing to stop you building a good D series engine to the fullest extent of the Honda Cup rules? It would be eligible. Its just unlikely that anyone would?
Everyone is welcome.

OK, I just thought at 1900-1950 lbs it would do well against a 2150 lb B16.

Dave,
You may be right? If you think you can build something within the rules, (which are fairly open) By all means do so. You will be welcome in "Honda Cup"
Good luck

You're a little far for me to drive but I'll look forward to the Honda Cup wave moving East as the Honda Challenge went west.
