Default Am I the only one that drives his/her ITR in the snow?

Headed to charlotte from winston last night, half way there we got into mad snow. DAMN it was fun, the R really impressed me with its capability. Hans stuck has nothing on me

But I guess i'm one of the rare few that drive the R in less than perfect weather...

And yes i wash the salt/sand/**** off afterwards...

Seeing as how the R is my only means of transportation, when it snows, I drive in it.

With my 010's on I was scared for my life, I imagine my 730's will be a little better, but I still plan on being very cautious in the snow this winter.

Snow is fun as heck!

It hasn't snowed much here in Toronto. Only one snowfall in December. Snow is all gone from the rain, just cold weather.

It's cold for 6 mos of the year, why miss out and store the car. I wish I tons of cash available, I'd buy a WRX for winter and drive my ITR in summer.

Or screw both and get the upcoming Audi S4 w/V8.

Yup. Mine never see snow or rain. That's what a winter beater is for.

I drive mine in the snow. Did not do as well this year as it did a few years ago in the 24" we had. I think it is the tires. Then I had the Kumhos, this time I was back to the RE010s.
Anyone want a set of used RE010s? Hit me up, a little over 50% of the tread is used...

What tires are you running? Back when I had the stock tires on, I could only get traction in fourth gear, when I had to drive home from RStoR's house in slush/snow mix. Took me a bit of work to get my R in the garage in three inches of snow last night on 712's

It finally got cold in late December so I went ahead and put the Arctic Alpins on the car, since winter tires work better even on cold DRY roads. No snow yet here in Chicago though.

What, you're going to drive on winter tires all year round?

And yes i wash the salt/sand/**** off afterwards...
Then you don't have real winter weather. In real winter weather, you can't wash the car because it's way below freezing out.

Yup. Mine never see snow or rain. That's what a winter beater is for.
Mine is my winter beater. My summer beater, too.

Not suppose to snow in Atlanta either.
No, Atlanta usually gets ice storms in the winter.

I live in Ohio, and just ordered a set of Michelin Pilot Alpins in 205/50-15......been lucky up to now on not a lot of snow......The R has been parked in the garage until The Rack sends the tires.....previous experience with the Alpins.....decent winter performance and great snow traction.....especially with the LSD

I drive my R everywhere..
will wash it every week (everytime they pour salt)..
but recently, there's no snow falling..

But this Arctic Alpin tires don't give justice to my R..

-PiYo who will drive his R in snow, storm, dry, wet, etc

No you're not the only one by far...

I threw on the Alpins last week thinking since it was soo cold it just had to snow. I also remembered vividly last year how I coulden't even move my R in the winter on the Driveway with all the snow and ice! I felt if I wanted to move it or park it I had to get tires to be able to move it. Oh and Plus I live in Southern NY!

Truth be known I haven't really driven a Teg in the snow for over a year since I owned my LS. It did pretty well but I have high expectations for my R when the snow is virgin and before the Salt Devils hit the road.

But, thinking how the season is turning out and that I hate driving on Snow tires, maybe, just maybe it will be a light winter and I'll be able to mount the Azenis sooner than I think and be back to bustin twisties and hittin the Auto-X.

Good luck guys, and try to send some of that white **** up North where it belongs.

A.

It is my only car, so I have no choice but to drive it in all weather conditions. Here is a picture from Monday after purchasing some CRV wheels and all season tires. I was impressed with the R in the snow.

So far this winter, we haven't had any here in Chicago, either.
