something fucked up in my engine, now I gotta put a new one into my 00si...any suggestions?
Its been a long time since ive posted, but ive came back to HT in some need for some desperate help. Well about 2 months ago my baby 00 civic si got in a wreck, someone pulled out in front of me. Month later i finally get my car back......then after about 600 miles of driving all of a sudden im driving and I look down and its over heating, I immediatly stop the car and pull over.....hot as **** I walk a couple miles up to get a bottle of water........there was no coolent it appeared......when I got back I poured the water into the coolent spout to see if it might help, but right away I look down and the water was on the ground under the radiator/front ......so I have it towed back to the palce tha tdid my work and have them check it out.....needless to say my head/blcok are all warped from the heat and engine needs to be replaced................and they say they cant find any leaks in the hoses and only gues it was something from my motors fault they say(they guess?!)...even though i swore i saw water go right to the ground........so im stuck having to replace my engine now and pay for it all myself......im a poor college student going to school in Indiana.....does anyone have any suggestions on maybe how to prove that it was the shop, even though they probs fixed that **** if it was there bad(should have had it towed somewhere else)......this is a honest shop though that had everything full paid for by all state and would have had the new repairs also paid by them.....they really had no reason to **** me really.........................so what are my options........anyone know a good motor supplier and or a installer in indiana??? Thanks all! Sorry for the long and sloppy story hopefully you guys can help me out here this sux!
How much damage was done to the car? Did they have to replace the radiator, or front core support? If they claim the radiator was fine, but had to replace the front core support, then they may have been mistaken and let you roll out with a screwed up radiator. I would have the system pressure tested (unless the head is already off) and see if there are any leaks. Also, how do they know that the head and block are screwed? Have they taken the head off? If anything, the head gasket would need to be replaced as well as a head resurface. I would not let anyone off the hook just yet even though they are a well respected shop. EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES!
If you're in my neck of the woods, I don't mind helping Honda guys out in times of need if the work isn't really major.
What shop was this at?
If a shop is suspect, I always just walk away and never go back. If you walk away, make sure you take everything with you b/c it might not be a total lost cause.

if everything but the motor is in good shape then buy a gsr long block it'll prolly feel nice with a b16 tranny

I didnt let them off the hook, I made them take it and look at it. And when they tested it the engine could not hold any pressure at all.....it just squirted everywhere they said from the engine etc....but hteyr said they couldnt find leaks in radiotor.....and yes they had to replace the front part, I saw the car with teh whole front off except for engine.....but I have all the cams etc in it....they are gonna blame it on me anyways...any hints?

They also said that the reason its like that is your fault.. I would get the motor check to see if the head/block are actually warped.. Another thing to do would be to go to their competion and let them check it out.. Alot of times if they dont like the shop they will somehow find a reason to make it the other shops fault then you can sue them..

well I think its a little too late to do that now...+ my insurance would have paid for it all if it would have been there bad.....now its just time to figure out how to cheaply find parts to replace it...
stock block and head....with the listed internals....what im wondering is would i be bale to just order a new head and block or do you think there are other probs if the head/block are warped as the shop said? Thanks!
just got off the phone...I am able to just replace the head and block but he said I would need the head gasket to do it.....would I be able to find this combo just as easy and possible less expensive than the complete engine? Thanks guys...im a little out of my depth of knowledge when it comes to complete engine rebuild....
Replace it???? If your replacing the head and the block then your getting a new/different motor.. Are they using your same head and block?

Or what could I get that the shop wouldnt have to struggle with that would cost <1000 and make my existing internals faster
Thanks guys...im a little out of my depth of knowledge when it comes to complete engine rebuild....

If your just going with a stock motor I would just buy another b16 motor and drop it in there and call it a day.. But I would tell them you want the old head and block back no matter what you do..

exactly... make sure you get your old block back ...it sounds like this shop is a little shady to me....

KEEP YouR OLD BLOCK NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO!!!!!
No matter what the outcome, you will be able to make $ off your old B16...
Cheapest way to ge running would prolly be to get a LS engine (longblock) and drop it on.
It may not be as fast but itll get you around...

keep everything, don't let them take it. don't fall for core bullshit either. keep your old stuff no matter what.
Is the block still in the car along with the head.. I would go to the shop and write down the serial number of the block.. Also make a mark on the head that only you know where it is so that when they give you both back you know it was really yours..
I wouldnt put it over any shop to charge you for a new motor and either keep your in there and fix it or charge you for a new one and give you a warped head/block back and keep yours..
