Default Raced a 2001 M3 coupe today

i was on the way home from getting the my car serviced at honda, i was murging ontop the freeway when i heard this car wizz up behind me, i thought Wtf is this guys problem?? I thought man that looks like the greek dude i encountered a few weeks backand raced him with my Jeep limited. Well i murged onto the highway and scooted over to the middle lane and he pulls up on my passenger side, We are rolling at about 45Mph, i myself was in 3rd gear, wasn't beatin my car or nothing,he looked over and i was like that isn't the greek dude, so i nodded my head at him. So about 1-2 minutes down the road he was at the red light and i pulled up aside him, he rolled his window down and said " nice car, lets see how it holds up? and he reved on me" i was like ok Wtf, i am either gonna win or lose. I told him i wasn't dropping the clutch or nothing ( i mean do you blaim me for saving my clutch & diff) He was like ok we'll go off a roll. We pulled off the line and got till around 15mph and we both hammered it, we were neck to neck, i heard him shift and i took her out about another few hundered rpm and shifted, we were neck to neck up till around 142Mph, i guess he got the ***** of it or his machine said i coulden't take anymore. i went up till around 152mph then had to slow down otherwise i would have eat the rear end of some car. So i think once i do the Comptech Supercharger i'll have those M3's in my back pocket, I heard of someone doing a front Mount Intercooler on there Comptech kit?? Anyone know anything about this? what kinda power is it putting out???

those new M3's are fast, 3.2L I6 and an 8k rpm redline. They can eat S2K's for lunch under normal circumstances. I was suprised to read you could even keep up, but you do have an awesome car with a bunch of mods and you weigh a lot less. The M3's are top-speed limited to 155 also. I would chicken out around 130 Good show, nice to see a good even race like that.

Yeah, i had faith in my car. I had that scarey thought in the back of my head, the thought of him pulling away from me like i slammed my brakes on. I guess it didn't have the power to do that. Once again another showdown gone for BMW. Now my car is the the garage for awhile, it's always nice to let it out of its cage every now and then to unleash it's fury .

Yeah, you'll definately beat him if you get the supercharger cuz when he tops out at 155 you'll keep going to 165 or so. I know 166 mph = 9000 rpms in 6th gear but you can go to 9500 with your ecu right?

SpaYellowS2k - Yes my Ecu allows me to go to 9500Rpm. I cannot wait till i get the Supercharger kit, Everyones telling that thing whins pretty loud.

<http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthdown.gif> on BMW?

Let me see if I have this straight -- a stock car (which seats 5) kept up with a highly modded car (which probably costs about as much as the stock M3 but has none of the resale).
Hmm.
Well i guess all i can say to this is yes, you are correct, if i wanted to sale my car now i'd only get what the car is worth, i woulden't get the parts and labor fee ect.. But then again thats why i woulden't be stupid and sale it to a dealership, i'd private sale it then i'd have more chances at getting alittle more out of the sale. A 2001 M3 coupe sales for roughly 50,000.00 ?? I paided alittle over MSRP for my car and i put a few grand into it, but i am no where near putting 20 grand into it yet.

Thank you for clarifying that up, personaly i don't care for the M3, BMW only makes two cars, well three that you'd ever see me drive. Thats the 750il, M-roadster hatch and the Z8.

Welp people i am going to bed, talk to you guys later, Oh yeah SpaYellowS2k, whens the next meet up in your neck of the woods, I am gonna be at my wifes parents place around the second week of augest this year.. By then my car should be complete to the gills, hopfully we can meet up and gossip and go out drinking.. goodbye

It seemed a bit odd that a fairly stock S2000(Asuming you did not list any performance parts and even mentioned you wanted to go supercharger) could make it up to 142 and 152 Mph that quickly.

Yeah, let me know when you'll be up my way. The 2nd week of August, my birthday is the 15th so its hard to say whether I'll be out of town or not. I usually go to the shore for my birthday, but since its a Thursday I'll probably go 15-18 or something.

You got the Amuse ECU with the car right? Does it make a lot of difference being able to rev it out that extra 500 rpms? I assume after you shift at 9500, you would fall into a better position in the powerband for the next gear, like 7000 maybe? Do you wind her out the whole way very often? I wonder what kind of effect that would have on the engine in the longrun. Being Amuse though, I'm sure it costs an arm and a leg.

I think when i shift at around 9500Rpm it drops back to around 6800Rpm, I can count of two times i dropped the clutch and i've might only winded it out maybe a half dozen times, I really don't see any need to get up over 6000-7000Rpm, unless i am racing. I would iamgen if your winding it out alot it would take it toll alot faster. I bought my car for the pure pleasure of driving, Not going out and beating it just cause it has some mods. I mean i did race a M3 and we hung together for the most part, he pulled alittle bit off the start but i caught up. I don't race anything unless i feel it's worth it,Cause parts for the s2000 are far from cheap.Replacing a clutch or some misc part cause some guy in a Crx with a B16a swap wanted to race is just pure stupidty. I am sure you know what i am talking about, this stuff probley happens to just about every s2k owner, you always got some kid in his crx or civic that wants to race you on open highway. Well i have to get going, 5:00am comes around fast, gotta go to the airport and pick my brother-n-law up. take it easy everyone.
Oh yeah Spayellows2k, I'll be sure to let you know when exactly i'll be coming up in those neck of the woods, take it easy man. goodbye

Holy cow! Is that correct? The 5-speed NSX is geard for 186 in 5th, and the 6-speed is geared for like 200mph or something. And the S2000 has an extra 1000rpm to boot. Those are crazy short gears.

I can think of a reason. The thrill of listening to your car rev to 9500rpm. I redline my NSX all the time. It doesn't care. So far it appears as though S2Ks aren't nearly as robust as NSXes, though. I say that because you hear about a lot of failed number 4 cylinders, but that *may* just be due to numbers. I'm not sure I've ever heard of a failed NSX motor that wasn't due to an over-rev or some kind of horrible abuse (like too much boost or nitrous or both).

Speaking of revving up there... Is the S2K really smooth all the way to redline? My GS-R started to vibrate and sounded like it was gonna blow up as it approached redline (probably partly because of the polyurethane shift linkage bushings and metal shift ****), whereas my NSX is totally smooth.

When i rev up pretty high it doesn't break up or anything, the chassis vibrates alittle, but it's not that ricy vibration, it's the vibration of power, like when you rev a Porsche 993 or a F50 ferrari . maybe i am far fetched about the F50 but you get the idea. I actually got to drive a F50 at a Consumer Car show, I didn't get to get on it to see what it had but when i reved it she just pured nicly.

Welp gotta go, take it easy everyone.
