I'm buying a vented cf hood from a guy in the UK soon, from thrawling thru the net i have narrowed the make of it down to a possible two, 'Ings' or 'Shift'. Both look identical to each other and the one i'm getting. Does anyone know where the rain water drains to...will it be on top of the header or does ot drop bewteen the header and the radiator. Below is a picture showing the hood i'm getting in the top left, along with pics of an Ings and Shift hoods. We get a lot of rain all year round and if i thought it was going to drain onto the engine block/valve cover i think i'd think twice about putting it on.
Ive got a similar one on my teg. the water primarly drips on the header. but the water never really drips on the head at all. if you want to keep your engine bay spanking clean. i vote against it.

As hot as the header is, it will just turn to steam most likely. I have no problems with rain with my Ings hood and it has 2 outlet ducts and one inlet duct. The water will collect on the intakemani if sitting in a downpoar. The car has been through about 4 typhoons this year and never had any problem.
I say go for it!

correct. but the water would only get in if your stopped at a light or your car is parked. when im driving the water just rolls off like any normal hood.

Seems like if you're at a stop light and it's raining, all the rain dripping in and hitting the header will cause a lot of steam to start pouring out back through the vent in the hood. It'll look like your car is overheating or something.

as you can see on the pic I ve a vented hood also.
its no problem in the rain, just if you make a venting like on the scooby hoods, so that everything blows in.
this openings in the hood are more outlet than inlet. when i m stading at traffic lights i can see the hot or warm air comin out of the hood. looks cool.

And a dirty engine bay is ricey in what way?????????
The only reason i'm buying it is its cheap, and i have a short ram intake and i want a vent to take out the hot air...i considered a plain c/f hood but didnt see the point apart from weight loss...which to be honest doesnt really bother me...my cars not that heavy anyway....2350lbs with half a tank of gas (1070kgs-weighed a few weeks back)

Ings uses BuddyClub/Shift hoods.
I have the exact same one on my car, painted white though
When it rains, water will drip down right between the radiator and header, some of it will drop onto the header of course (always have small amount of steam coming out of the vent on a rainy day in traffic
)
Here is a pic of it before paint.

I got the guy to send me some close up pictures of the hood and now i'm not so sure i want to buy it, it looks fucked and scored all over. How easy are they to buff up again? I realise a lot of the crap on it is road grime and dust gathered after sitting on the docks in japan for anything up to 3 months and then a 6 week journey in a dusty greasy cargo ship...but the section below the vent on the left looks like its all scored/scratched
