Hobart Handler 175 good/bad???
Just curious as to what some of you more experienced welders thought about this welder. I picked one up today at TSC with the cart and gas kit for $400. Sounded like a good deal considering they wanted $309 for the 125 without the gas kit. The 180 model with the same accessories was around $650. This was the dislpay so I didn't get the users manual (already downloaded) or the little oddball accessories which I already have.
Will this suffice for minor fab work? Exhaust, charge pipes, and some manifold modifications should be well within the capacity of this thing, pretty much up to 3/16-1/4"?? I'm just curious as to if it can also handle some stuff as thin as 24-26gauge? Does it seem like a reasonable deal? (if not I can return it) I got to install a 240 outlet this weekend before I can test it out..

i own the same unit , i like it , it would be nice if it had variable amperage and not the taps like it has , but for 400 bucks i think you got a good deal , and as far as welding 22- 24 gauge you might want to go to smaller wire , cus i think the .030 might be to big and burns through a little bit on thinner stuff , but all in all you got a nice deal
