jun 3s plus milled head will i clear?

DOn't know about the Jun3 cams but I have Endyn 12.1+ pistions and my head is milled .040 with toda B's and the intake cam is @ +4 now and EX is at -1 ..no clearance issues
I spoke to Dan from DPR today about upgrading to Toda Spec C's from my current B's. He told me not to take a chance, but for me to send the head into him so that he can inspect it, put in some Toda valvesprings, clean it up, do some measurements, and from that he'd tell me if I could use the C's or not.
Another friedns told me to forget the C's since they only start making more power than the B's after 8500 RPM anyway, and I rarely go that high unless I'm racing someone with the intent of winning.....
Where do Spec C's make peak power on a 1.8L DOHC VTEC motor?
I'll find alternative and cheaper ways to go faster!

Spec C's are that huge of a jump of Spec B's. Why would he want to do all that unnecessary work to your head?
Slap 'em in and run 'em.

I guess DPR wants to be on the safe side with the head. At the same time this car is my daily driver and I dont want to bend valves again like I did the first time with spec A's. i'll inquire more about it....

I hope you're not trying to jinx me by just telling me to slap them in and run it!

sam,
the Jun 3's have about 3-4 degrees of play before they grab a valve. it really depends on how much they milled off. I would not compare the Toda B and C behaviour with milled heads to what a Jun 3 does with milled heads. the ramp/flank angles are way different (how fast the valve snaps open and close)...I hear the Jun 3 have less tolerance to lobecenter separation angle changes.
If you are hard up for them then the first reply to clay test and find your limit on the cam gears by degreeing the cam during the clay test is the way to go.
cheers

What good is it to send DPR your head to see if you can run spec C's?? He can't check your piston to valve clearances.
and yes the spec C's power band is higher than the B's so there's no sense to going to t hose since you don't want to rev any higher. Keep the B's and tune your car all in now. Work with what you got.

well originally i had my car set up for A's, but when the B's came out I got all excited, got rid of the A's and slapped in the B's.....no problem at all..
since I have the set-up as mentioned in my sig plus a mugen headgasket I fear that I may have clearance issues. I can go ahead and "slap in C's" but then I dont want to grenade my motor if that extra .5mm of lift and duration will bend all my valves.
Besides I need to upgrade my valvesprings from my current R units to the Todas, and that extra $$$, clay my motor, thats extra time and more downtime.....
and put everything together...I dunno, I'll figure something out.
Where do B's make peak power? C's?
