PRELUDE TO ACCORD CARB SWAP
OK 2 START OFF I OWN A KICK AS ACCORD. ITS AN 86 AND ITS NICE. BUT IM NOT HAPPY. I WANT 2 SWAP THE SINGLE OVER CARB WITH THE PRELUDE DUEL SIDE DRAFT CARBS. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT CONVERTS I WILL NEED? AND IF U KNOW ANYWHERE THAT MAKES 86 ACCORD BODY KITS OR CAN CONVERT 1 THEN LET ME KNOW PLZ
LOL 1ST OFF U DIDNT SPELL IT RIGHT. AND 2ND.THIS POST WASNT PUT UP 4 UR RUDE COMMENTS. IF U HAVE NOTHING NICE 2 SAY THEN DONT SAY ANYTHING.THANK YOU.
1st off barely anyone has an accord < 1990 on this site, and if anyone knew they would have helped you already. They're just so damned old, underpowered, and difficult to fix. I have my eye on an Accord hatch but i'm just going to fab something up so I dont have to deal with the car I can't get parts for.
2nd. Don't type in all caps! It bothers people and they want to answer your question less then!

Hey stop typing in caps. go to http://www.3geez.com becuase that is dedicated to 3rd gen accords. They will be able to help you a lot better than we can.
ok yeah i see what u mean by noone has under 1990 here. but your wrong about them being under powerd. u can do more wit an 86 then u think. i have a friend who has a crx and he put the same motor i have now in it and the duel carbs. wit a nos kit and a couple other things. anyway 2 make it short it ran faster then most 90's models. just because sumthing is old dont mean it cant b fast. yes its very tru its hard 2 find parts for an 86 but then again there easier 2 work on then most the newer honda's. mainly cause u can find most the parts u need at almost any junkyard.bodykits iv never seen for an 86. but im sure sumone could fabricate 1, thas only if i wanna pay an arm and leg....other then that i used 2 have a 86 prelude and it ran faster then most the 90's honda's i like the older models more. i just know so much about fixing them that it makes it easy 2 work on. besides the 86's haveing 100+ vacuum lines its very easy 2 fix.u dont even need most the vacuum lines. i ran 4 vacuum lines off my prelude wit no probs and gained alot of hp by doing so. another way 4 older cars 2 gain torque is 2 remove the ac belt since the 86's have a 3 belt pully u can remove the ac belt witout hurting the other 2 belts.another thing 2 think about is. removing the air filter the whole thing. i run stright carbs. see i know many things bout an 86 but there are many things i dont know. so i guess im just trying 2 say dont give up on an 80' model honda they will give u what u pay 4. meaning if u put alot of money into it then u will get your moneys worth out. so that hatchback u wanted. u should get it its not hard 2 work on. what year was it? p.s i would put my car up agenst any fi and i know id either win or b right next 2 them when they cross the line.so dont count older cars out just yet. they still got much life in them they just need lots of love and sumone wit a good job...cause those parts wont come 2 cheap...

The car is fine, i'm bitching about the engine and drivetrain. It would be next to impossible for me to fix them so i'd have to find an alternative...
I dont know what year it is the damned thing just sits in front of this guys house and i'm waiting for it to go for sale...

well, he's heading in a different direction from what most Honda tuners look towards. Fuel injection is our bread and butter, but carbs are a whole other language for most of us. I've seen a fast carb'd CRX with a built B20 run down a GReddy turboed EK Si, but it was a close race, and the CRX had more money in the carb setup than the cost of the turbo itself. ever seen the pricetag on two perfectly tuned Weber carbs? $1200! not to mention the headwork to accept the carb manifold, and whatnot. I'm not gonna knock something different, but that's simply too much just to prove a old, retired point.
in my opinion, junk the car, and buy a CB Accord, install H22A, and have all the fun in the world.

That is not what he is wanting to do so your opinion probably does not sway him very much. I bought an 87 accord just to drive around a while back and I loved it. It ran so smooth and never gave me problems. I sold it to a good friend cause he needed a car quick.

Oh and I have a set of the dual carbs and a prelude motor sitting at my house if you want it. One of the freeze plugs is out cause we wanted to check the cooling system. It ran fine when I pulled it out. If you want it pm me.

ok thas kool. thx alot 4 the heads up. so how much u wanting 4 it? and bout how much u think itll costs 2 ship from there 2 oregon? i cant remeber if its the manifold or head i need 2 make the carbs fit. but im sure thas cheaper then shipping the whole motor lol. thx alot man. i gotta run out here and finnish putting my new speedometer cable in.
lol is it in good shape? well i dun have a prob wit the motor i got 1 from japan. but yes the tranny is giving me probs. it pops outta 5th gear every now and then. and my clutch is bout dead. i priced racing clutches 4 my car $180-$250 i was like mannn. but it has 2 b done. i know the 86's are a pain but my 1st car was a 86 prelude and i just fell in love wit them. the whole body shape and the way they ride. and im 6'3 so its amazing that i can fit in the car let alone b comfortable in it.but i see now its gonna b very hard 2 find clear aftermarket lights for it. i wish they had a place that would make them 4 u. i was thinking bout just spray painting the lights a smoke grey or black. but i dunno if the lights would still b see able or if id have 2 go buy aftermarket red and amber lights so the colors are where they should b.lol im way off topic but yeah i wouldnt give up on the car u want just cause its old. it can b a car just 4 fun. there are so many things u can do wit these older cars that u cant wit most newer 1s.ok well i gotta get back 2 installing my speedometer cable. l8z

David - Mydaughter has a 1990 Prelude 2.0S (B20A3) that developed a cold start problem (dies w/o constant thottle inputs till warm). I've been told that the wax pellet in the thermal valve is bad which affects cold start idle. It cannot be bought separately either, only with the dual carb assembly. Any chance your dual carbs are still available? Does anyone have any other thoughts? Thanks!
