Default Motard Bikes...

what do you guys think of this? I was a cannondale bicycle mechanic for a long time, and I heard some good things about their dirt bikes, but then again, they almost put themselves out of buisness after having a major recall... it looks fun as hell, and seems like a damn good commutor/troad trip bike...

Looks hella fun...

I was thinking of bidding on that exact bike... but it is outside of california and it would not be legal because of milage. I think for a couple thousand more you could get a great top of the line killer motard

California law... bikes coming into california must have at least 7500 miles on it if it is used... there are ways around it but not for a bike that I can get here and perhaps better constructed

Interesting. Not much wind-protection, though. Those front brakes look like they'd get pretty messed up if you went off-roading. And is the rear wheel or swingarm a little tweaked in that last picture?

All things considered, it looks like it'd be fun.

Front rotor:
If you guys didnt know, I believe wave rotors were made for off road bikes at first. Then they came on to the sport bike scene. They were not made for heat/ cooling purposes but rather for self cleaning on the dirt track. If a off road junkie can chime it to confirm this or to correct if Im wrong, I dont know crap about off road.

i know nothing about cannondale but would get a crf450r to convert for more aggressive riding or an xr650 for everyday use. 650's are cool since you can use f2/f3 wheels & some suspension stuff for the conversion.

I'd trade my VFR400 for one of these anyday

CRF450 but too much maintenance for a street bike

'05 Husky 510 SMR - I'll kill for one of these ($7200 and can be titled since it comes with a carb sticker)

not all of them. crf450r's are though; my roomates needed a lot of upkeep. anything 2 stroke is going to be more work than a 4 stroke typically.

Have you ever seen a motard race? a uniquely american creation... even though it was brought forward over seas, thios started out as a wide world of sports creation that involved all discliplines road racing flat tracking and motocross... it was called the "superbikers", Yes even before there was a supoerbike catagory... there were even two wheel drive bikes, but they were outlawed because they had an unfair advantage

CRF's are a 4 stroke, not a 2 stroke. but from the guys i know with one, the rebuild it every 20 hours or so. but most of the guys i know have that motor shoved in a quad and it handles more abuse then in a bike.

Never seen a race on tv, but those tires don't look to be real off-road worthy. Sure the suspension and stuff because its bassically just a dirt bike with street tires right? Those tires look to be just as sand worthy as the ones on my bike and I keep it OUT of the sand at all costs.

I think the French would have something to say on that.

I don't think so... the motard came years after the superbikers, unless your talking about the name... I am talking about the event
