How is everyone doing? My first HT post! My friend Kei told me about this site. Some of you might know him? Not sure. KsBlackCivic I think was his name From CT. Anywho.. Was wondering what peoples experiences with certin snow tires are? Any recomendations? I too my SI wheels off because my Potenzas will not work in the snow. Throwing the steelies back on Say goodbye to handeling!

Also stupid question, my oxygen sensor is bad but i have a 1.6non vtec from my wrecked car could that one be used for an EX engine? Does it pull right out? Thanks guys looking foward to getting to know you all ~ Jason

Welcome! Yeah you can use the sensor from the non-VTEC model as long as it's a 4-wire type like your stock one.

As for snow tires, how much driving do you have to do in actual snow? I mean, does it snow lots and stay around for a long time, or do the road crews plow and salt to clear it up?

For dedicated snow tires, Bridgestone Blizzaks or Michelin Arctic Alpins are great, otherwise a quality M&S rated tire will do. I put BFG Traction T/A on the wife's car, they are working good so far and are good on dry ground too.

 

Yea dude, im like 20 minutes away from you, I just run stockers with some descent pep boys tires. Snow tires are $$$$$

 

Well see I just got her and I feel like spoiling her and I also plan on going skiing this winter so I don't want to fly off another cliff like my old car. that was a big ooops. I have the other tires for non snowy weather so these would only be for the winter. And I just moved and I live on a steep hill and im not sure exactly how well it gets plowed and don't want to take any chances. I was looking at the Bridgestones but I don't know if I want to go all out or just get the front tires done. Well thanks for the help guys.

i just bought some winterforce m+s. they seriously look like truck tires, the thread wraps around onto the sidewall. its noyce. price? 37 bucks a piece from tirerack.com

I've recomended these to quite a few people. They all love them.

 

Bridgestone Blizzaks. 116 a piece at tirerack.com. Best snow tire ever made. My friend has them on his Passat and another friend has them on his civic. They both love them. They grip great and are awesome on ice. And we live in Wisconsin.

But that's more than my summer and race tires.

Winterforce $37*4 = $148 &gt; Blizzak $116*4 = 464

148 vs 464? And you'll have to add shipping and mounting / balancing on top of that depending on where you buy them / mount them. No contest. And I live in the northeast, so no stranger to snow. The Blizzaks are not that much better to command that premium. I've had both, and I can say the winterforce are just as good.

 

I just got a pair of Hankook studded snows. They are 175/14/65, and they are great when the roads are shitty, but if you have to take them on the highway, or anything above 55-60mph, they absolutely blow ***. Feels like you have beachballs for tires, the car floats on them and they just plain suck for anything besides straight line driving below 50mph. My .02.
