Tiff drove the F430 on last week's Fifth Gear. Looks awesome! The style is a big step up from the 360 IMHO. Great looking car in side and out.
The new EVO magazine has a test of the car inside. They also have a head to head with a Gallardo.
Also - there is a nice write up of the Zonda

Okay - okay....!
Coles notes: Gallardo's AWD inspires confidence - but can't hold a candle to a F430 equipped with the Enzo braking system. F430 is a breeze to drive in traffic as well- press on the LOUD pedal and you are handsomely rewarded with phenomenal acceleration and razor sharp handling. Ferrari has equipped the car with varying levels of traction control (there is even a setting for "snow" LOL). The engine holler at full "Tom Jones bellow" is something every gear head should experience before they die.
The pictures of the interior made me drool. Literally. I have never seen such a beautiful array of gauges, polished metal, carbon fiber and sumptuous leather
The Zonda article included a very nice description of what it is like to drive a convertible Zonda in a mountain tunnel following Mr. Zonda in the company test mule. Apparently Mr. Zonda likes to open a can of whoop *** in tunnels....
BPR - who has some reading still left to do...

It always surprises me how similar those things sound to a VTEC honduh with an intake on it. I mean, it sounds like two of them, but the roughness and the frequencies always sound the same to me when I hear a V8 Ferrari with factory exhaust. Opened up they start to sound a lot cooler.

I was thinking the same thing...
I guess any engine that revs to 9K will sound like that

if honda would just build b32a... put two b16a's together. based on my stock b16a block dyno of 188 whp and 117 ft-lbs. the b32a ought to be able to do 376 whp and 234 ft-lbs. why don't they do it?!?!?!?
I liked the guy (J Plato), until the end of the clip. When he said he decided to buy one (jealousy), and - ultimate sacrilege in my mind - he said he wanted it in Blue.
Blue! for ****'s sake. There is only one color a ferrari should come in, and that is ferrari ******* red.
I'll go take a valium now.

Here is a clip of my 355 Challenge down the main straight at Summit Point followed by a street 355 with an ordinary factory exhaust. Huge difference.
The 360 and 430 both have that distinctive high rpm pitch (like VTEC or F1). The older Ferrari's like the 355's and the 348's sound more like traditional V8's.

The first thing most Ferrari owners do is swap out the stock exhaust which must meet very stringent European noise regulations, for a Tubi exhaust.
However even those sound tame compared to straight pipes at 9000 rpm's. My db's were measured at 114 at Summit with straight pipes. The only thing they ever measured that was louder was a fully race prepped 99 Winston Cup car.

I liked very much the F355 and the F360, but the F430 is an absolutely incredible car. From what I read about it it's just perfect. This thing outruns the 8.3L Viper and the Saleen S7 even in a straight line, it's faster than the F40 and totally blows away the previous Modena in every way. Add to that its awesome looks and just perfect sound effects. I would enjoy this car more than an Enzo. Actually at the moment I can't think of any other car I would rather have than the F430. But mine is going to have to be in red for sure.
Thanks for the link.
